Hi ele players.
First i want to say that i made this topic to show u guys that ele is not dead class. Second staff. Its not that lame and broken wep set that all says it is.
So five days ago i made my way in leaders bord. I was around rank 600 so i try harder. Afther 2 or 3 days i mange to drop to rank 6. There to all you guys that says “dont play ele u failed my game, oh crap ele we lose(u know where im going with this)” – dont judge us before u see us in action.
P.S. Didnt had time to post so thats why im doing it 5 days later. And i did it only with staff( not a bunker/support build but dps)

What build & weapon do you use?

Im runing with staff dps build but dont recommend for new players to do it in solo q. Try bunker build or lil more tanky one first. You can contact me in game if u need help :P

Congratulations. Frankly, I wouldn’t say that Elementalist is useless. Elementalist just costs too much nerves and effort compared to Mesmer, Warrior or Thief.
As a Warrior, Mesmer or Thief you can easily grab a Meta build and have successfull fights.

I don’t aim to start a “Elementalist is underpowered”-discussion by this post. But I still think that the Elementalist has no clear direction and that its too hard to find a really good build for that class.

I agree with u vanensang.1389 but i love my ele to much just to leave it. Again i wanted to show other ppl that love theyer class(ele) that they should not stop play it just because of other ppl flame or “underpower”.

Staff isn’t bad in pvp for sure. Im terrible at it but good ones can make groups wipe on points

Well, actually I stopped playing it because I’m working quite a lot. It just costs too much of my time to find a good build and to perfect it compared to a PU/Shatter mesmer or a Condition Warrior or Burst Damage Warrior, you know.
Most players probably already leveled other characters too and I can understand them pretty good if they get frustrated if they get bashed by a thief in hotjoin-PvP or in WvW.

Though I’m interrested into your build since I miss the good old “mage” feeling who wields a staff.

Nice job, but you’ve only played 60 Solo Queue matches.

We all know how RNG solo queue is; solo queue ranking means squat.

This doesn’t prove anything.

3 place. 13-0. definitely they need to remade MMR system and leaderboards.

I never play structured pvp, tournaments, or any other highly visible mode of any game I care about, because it causes whatever character I’m using to get nerfed. I prefer to go about my business incognito and enjoy the character abilities. Advertising your successes is a very poor strategy for receiving pleasing future patches.

I think WvW is fairly incognito; even solo roaming, you can probably pwn people fairly regularly without often encountering and angering a dev.

Mash Hog.5672- ive played alote more games then that. I have exp in tpvp 2 on NA and Eu severs. I agree that i dont have like 1k games in solo/team ques but still have alot of exp with my ele. Its the only class that i play and i do alot of wvw and spvp(i know that dosent mean anything but is some kind of exp with the class :P). Just want to say TVM for the support :P.

vanensang.1389- Im gonna made some thing like a guid for staff. U know for the new players. Will poste there the builds and strategys that i use.

I’m using a DD frsh air with way worst success that i had with my guardian or engi, it maybe because i didnt play ele for months and months but the build ive got doesn’t seem to be too good either. Also, i wanna try staff .

Yes it does , that we are not dead weight. A person that it is dead weight will
never even MAKE it in to the leaderboards because no 4v5 team can win.

I my self go around 600 – 90% i am not so good but in a fight i didn’t die instantly, and
i can do pretty good damage with my s/f.
Ele is good. But a player must be good for playing this class. Yes we have serious problems but if our teammates are not idiots , know how to play and they don’t insult us lowering the moral, then we are very valuable to the team

Well staff zerker never gets old in hotjoin, I think 420 is the highest I’ve ever scored…didn’t run a single orb either.
Followed by a rage message from a WARRIOR (of all classes) because he tried so hard to chase me down but I kept running away while my teammates dogpiled him.
I guess he didn’t know what happens when a staff ele goes 1v1 against any class/build :P

There is nothing to brag about.

Against an organized team, you would have gotten stomped at every engagement. I’ve never went against a team with a glass staff Ele that wasn’t downed within seconds with a little focus fire or forced to flee from the team fight.

Not to mention thieves will just wreck glass Elementalists, we don’t have invisibility or clones to hide behind, just some minor CC to kite with.

The fundamental problem with Ele IMO is that skill floor and ceiling are so high – really good players can perform really well. Bad Eles perform terribly. The problem is that with the majority, who have average skill levels, the class/weapon underperforms.

In other words, the base performance of the class should be raised, without raising the skill ceiling too much.
