Elementalist question
I see lots of varying builds for D/D that can tank. I just jumped into world earlier this night with my Elementalist with a build similar and I must say I’m very much enjoying it.
Currently, my trait setup is 0/10/0/30/30
Air: Zephyr’s Boon
Water: Cleansing Wave, Soothing Disruption, Cleansing Water
Arcane: Elemental Attunement, Renewing Stamina, Evasive Arcana
My armor is all exotic Knight’s armor (Power, Precision, Toughness) though maybe I should’ve went for Cleric’s set. My jewels are kinda mixed around considering I made jewels to boost my vitality initially until I felt it was at a good number (17-18k I believe it was). Then I started adding some power and toughness as well for fear that I wouldn’t be able to last too long on the battlefield.
I’m sure people have better builds than me, but I feel this working out pretty well when I play. At least, good enough for any skirmishes that end up as 2v1 or fighting those darned Thieves that stealth for ages.
Mine is very similar, I run 0/20/0/20/30 and a mix of knight’s and valkyrie gear. Another nice thing about the build too is its easy to just swap a couple traits without a respec when you need to switch to a staff for a long range fight.
Yeah i think that’s what I’m seeing and I also see them using earth and some kind of big AoE that does nice dmg. So m guessing you guys are liking your builds? Also what king of traits are you using along with what acessories?
I’ve listed my traits already. If you mean utilities, I switch it around. I use 2 of the following 3: Mist Form, Lightning Flash, Cleansing Fire coupled with Frost Bow because I love the thing even if I never see any other Elementalists using it. Sometimes I will switch up my stuff for maybe Arcane Shield or Wave, more Shield usage though.
For accessories, I have 2 Beryl, 2 Emerald, and 1 Ruby. All exotics.
Oh and yes, I very much love this build.
@ OP going to give you some general info that might help.
I know this much anyone who actually “rushes” the pack is at least 20 points into both the last 2 trait trees (water and arcane) or 20 into water and more into earth (trait line 3). They aren’t flat out surviving they are surprising lol. My point is if you all focus fire that one players you likely kill them or force the retreat. That being said the common elements beside the points are cantrips 2-3 http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cantrip (also look at the trait at the bottom of the link page to understand why we put points in water) . D/D obviously for RTL http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ride_the_Lightning . The earth skills you are talking about are http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Earthquake and http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Churning_Earth but the big one is churning earth. To get the cast to hit you usually neeed to cc the targets (with earthquake) and if that isn’t enough you can use http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arcane_Shield or precast and use http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lightning_Flash toward the end of the cast and port to the location. Another option is to RTL in and immediately cast updraft http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Updraft. http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcs look at water tree specifically traits 3 and 5.
Hope it helps. Look at the various post from D/D ele here and you will get a better idea of what builds work for WvW.
