I’ve played alot with my Elementalist but I never really bothered figuring out or calculating the best builds for maximum damage for PvE (mostly dungeons and fractals).

And I don’t see many threads about maximizing DpS here, although I do play whatever set I think I’ll have more fun or be more useful for the group, if I wanted to just go for maximum DpS, how should I do it?

25 air, 10 water, 10 earth
Tomorrow 10 fire
That’s for vulnerability on critical, 20% more damage to vulnerable foes in water, 10% more damage to foes at close range, and conjurer for 25 weapon charges.

I can’t think of what to use the rest of the traits on off the top of my head.

Use the conjure lightning hammer and there you go.

25/25/10/10 most likely. Using LH, Arcane Wave, Signet of Fire.

10% damage to foes in 600 range

10% to burning foes (tommorow)

20% to vulnerable foes in water

20% to foes under 33%

15% more crit damage after using an Arcane skill

and a 66% chance to cause vulnerability on crits

I can’t believe these guys are saying 10/25/x/x/x or 25/25/x/x/x. It’s painful just reading it.

Ele needs to give Fury to the group – that means 30 in Fire. Ele should also be keeping up perma 15+ stacks of might for group – that means s/x LH.

I’ll be updating it with the s/f LH build I’m currently using, among other things, after the patch hits today. As soon as I can get some stat numbers on ascended armor, I’ll be re-optimizing the zerk/assassins and the food/stacking sigils mix for each build as well.

Based on using staff, I’ve been using 30/10/0/10/20.

10% fire dmg, 20% fire cooldown, fire spells grant might (I change to fire fields give fury when I switch to scepter/dagger for fights that need it or I want to change things up)
20% dmg to enemies below 33% hp
10% dmg when above 90% hp
elemental attunement and blasing staff

Though today blasting staff was moved down to adept, so I’m considering where to move the extra 10 points or to keep them in arcana for attunement and swap time.

But overall, I love the damage I do over a large area and works great in high level fractals with my party. Just avoid enemies like the plague and when you have a moment of peace, rain hell from above with meteor shower.

Even got lucky and decided to experiment with it in pvp and downed all 5 members of a team on a node that were going after our bunker. But the keyword there is “lucky” because if one of them decided to give me a weird look I’d probably die instantly.

I suggest air, in case you run into something difficult you can spec glyphs and spam boons.

@ Ryuken: the link I posted previously also has a section on staff if you scroll down, the 30/20/10/10/0 and 30/10/10/10/10 builds. OP asked about PvE, for which (if you’re going to use staff) you should be using one of those.

HOWEVER, if you’re going more maximum group DPS (which includes both your personal DPS and the amount of might/fury you maintain for group), you shouldn’t be using staff at all. You ought to be using s/f LH, shown in the following vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeRhQ40ckQ4

@ Anierna I prefer keeping a safe distance away from the fighting in fractals where one or two hits put me down for the count, which is why I prefer the staff, but will go to might and fury stacking in easier dungeons. Been a staff ele since beta and love it way too much, too.

@Axelifus Of course! glyph of storm is always in my bar because of helpful it is! Sand and ice storm are amazing.
