Are Elementalist the hardest hitting mages out of the 3 ? Seems like this profession hits hader than Mesmer’s. Not sure about Necro’s since I never leveled one to 80.

The best Necro builds are all more or less about condition pressure, they don’t deal anywhere as much direct damage as Eles.

You could say that the elementalist is the most direct of the three spellcasters. Overall though, I don’t think the ele’s damage is that much higher than any other profession. It’s just more raw damage, and less multiple sources/conditions.

In PVE, lightning hammer may be the hardest hitting spec of all game, while buff in grp, you autoattack at 10k meaning 20k dps, far above average zerk war. Blinding and exploding on autoattack chain.

Indeed, you have no resiliance at all running this spec

Most often, you deal around 6-8k dps playing fresh air

Ah okay. I was going to focus on my Memser for end game but on second thought, I think I’m gonna stick it out with the Elementalist since the dps seems to be higher. Plus D/D is just awesome. The attunement switches keep gameplay exciting and the powers of this profession are cool, not to say the powers of the other professions aren’t but the powers of the Elementalist just stand out.

Necromancer is very capable of high power spellcaster damage. 30/10/0/0/30 build made around maintaining high amount of Life Force and doing spell damage with Life Blasts (Average one does around 4-6k. It self-buffs so after some time you’re able to crit 7-9k every second). It probably has most old-fashioned feeling of typical MMO mage (LF being your Mana Bar/Absorb Ward+hard-hitting, traditional casted spell)

Phantasm burst on a Mesmer is tough to beat.

Me has high burst but low rate dmg on long time.
It has it’s place on grp mostly by reflecting projectiles and curing cond

Meteor Shower with might stacks and fury can make short work of a group of npcs though.

In PvE some ele builds have the most damage in the game. FGS when abusing fiery rush can go over 100k damage, LH build has steady auto attacks for 10k, glass cannon staff build can hit 6-8k in fire. You can also be unkillable with the right trait setup and still do mediocre damage.

A cantrip build most likely (using Mist Form, Armor of Earth and another cantrip by choice, combined with the cantrip traits in Water Magic, supplemented by Evasive Arcana and Elemental Attunement).

Fixed that for you.

Just pointing out that glass cannon staff builds can hit 5-7k against a single target with just Meteor Shower (have to consider MS’s inherent targeting RNG, though, unfortunately). But, then think about the fact that it’s an AoE…

…and, if you’re stacking AoEs well, you have the potential for far more than 5-7k.

The problem is that only the worst players stand in AoE circles, so staff Eles get jipped out of our high DPS potential.

Plus, unlike certain other classes, Eles have a drastic survivability/DPS tradeoff.

Elementalist is higher AoE direct damage.
Mesmer is higher direct damage on single target.
Necro is higher condition damage on multiple targets.

Ele does a ridiculous amount of AoE dps and mainly AoE burst. I’d say it’s the top in game (burst)
