I’m quite the noob when it comes to building and finding the right attributes to use, and i really could use some help with that.. Also on what type of armor rune and weapon sigil..

Also, what kind of weapon do you like best on ele, and why?

DeKeyz (or something similar) on YouTube does a lot of build guides on Necro/Ele etc so check out her channel for sure.

My Ele is:

Berserker Staff (Air and Force Sigils. Night and Force for nighttime. I also have a staff with Corruption/Bloodlust for fun)
Berserker Armor with Scholar runes, if you can’t afford them or don’t like them then Flame Legion is second best.

Assassin/Berserker trinkets/rings.
Arcane Brilliance/Mistform/Signet of Fire/Conjure: Frost Bow then whatever 0 spell you prefer really.

Just what I’m comfortable with.

Staff. Metabattle is mostly garbage. The builds on there mostly have like 3-6 ratings total; it’s hardly an accurate representation of the community.

A lot of the builds on there for PvE are designed squeeze out every point of damage possible for speedrunning, which with the lack of relevance of dungeons and the increased armor values of fractal bosses at high levels, is an outdated concept to some extent.

A tiny percentage of the community posts those builds on that website and everyone parrots them as meta without fully understanding the concepts behind them.

In actuality, as a new elementalist, if you were to attempt to play those builds, you would probably just end up dying a lot and get frustrated. They aren’t designed for general use or casual play.

Look at the threads on the last couple of pages in the forums. There is a lot of similar topics where I and other elementalists like reikken post our general PvE builds. They are designed to have a mix of options in the form of survivability, healing, support and damage and are not just pure glass cannons.

I alwys build myself and i build according to playstyle and wishes. Of course it should be efficient. I like to help with building when i get a description of what is wanted. (OK somtimes whishes won´t fit an efficient build).
I personaly use septer/focus and sometimes staff if a situaton in PvE or WvW demands it. But scepter is usually not recomended. It´s a personal preferende being able to fight ranged. The classic weapon set at the moment is dagger/focus.
In PvP i use soldier rune and switch sage/wanderer (yes wanders is exotic for ele but it surprises me constantly how well it works for me).
I have fun with sage + svanir rune when facing lots of necros XD but soldier is the top allrounder that spports the team too.
So for what game mode and what playstyle / picture in mind and propably skill level. I won´t suggest fresh air for a beginner :-). There staff fire is realy solid for PvE and WvW.
