Elementalist upcoming balance
I’m sorry, but I am like rank 30 in PvP, and I only get there through funning with my friends. I don’t know how my own personal feelings on what I would like to see changed at this point had anything to do with your or how they gave you the impression that I play PvP more than I roam.
tried pvp few times, saw what its about, left and never looked back.
(i comes from years of competitive PvP games, with world live tournaments like… i still don t like mmorpgs pvp expecially capture point)But WWW roaming is a different thing.
The balance is a joke…some profession are way Beyond OP and yet they are ignored because “in pvp they can’t capture point so easily”.WWW doesn t force you to sit in a circle/square, nor gives you points if your opponent disengage.
You have to actually kill your opponent and if he is able to disengage/engagé at will, the profession with the least mobility AND longer cooldown is in a bad position.
There is infact a reason why Bunker is not viable for solo roaming for example while is extremely strong in PvP.
Since release the nerfs against Bunker eles are hitting hard balanced/offensive ele more than the bunker ones.
One year ago we had more build+role variety than today in www, and NO build was OP.
The video of daphoenix KITING 10 newbies was just a test to see if people notices the mistakes of attackers (not even Dungeon bosses with the awful AI ignores players to focus on an earth elemental really)……I’m going to remove myself from this.. I was a respected roamer when eles were at their lowest point. I was one of the respected ele duelists and I still roam and duel when I can find time.
I don’t need to be spoken to like I don’t comprehend roaming. I only have this to say. If you have trouble roaming with an elementalist, it is your fault. We are a strong and viable class.
Agreed. +1 to this many times. My ele’s currently capable of 1 v Xing in WvW. It’s at the point where even thieves or warriors always end up running away from me. It sounds a lot like a learn to play issue even if you played since release. Some people just won’t ever “get” it when it comes to PvP. Maybe this isn’t the right game mode or profession for you?
+2 to Lettuce – pvp is not for everyone. I have met players that even get so nervous when they are in this environment by themselves and they are doing a 1v1.
Nerves really can hit different people in different ways.
That’s why certain people enjoy zerging more. And bless them, they have a place in WvW too. I appreciate the guilds that successfully PPT, and sometimes I will hop in on a zergbust in progress.
Others stick to PvE, and that’s fine too. They just reap the benefits from WvWers.

As far as I’m suspecting this will happen:
- Tornado buff like Engies
- probably a trait redo, or increase projectile speed on our Staves
- a Focus buff or a redo
- nerf to FGS Fiery Rush and all other fire field wall/lines to only tick as one
I agree with bunkers being too strong.
lol. Bunkers are not “too strong”, it’s just that our other options are extremely poor.
Just because other options may or may not be poor doesn’t mean the bunker build isn’t over the top. A GOOD bunker ele build.. at least in my opinion, is a tad too forgiving. Keep in mind all I do is ele, I’m not a hater
Try playing the bunker ele against LB-axe/sword warriors though, not so bunkerish anymore!
I destroy this kind of warrior with out even having to dodge most of the eviscerates, pindowns, or arcing arrows, thats pretty much the source of all their damage… Hammer/ longbow on the other hand… Its nice to at least have to utilize dodge properly and not solely rely on heals and might stacks which come easy.

There us a trend with the Ranger to de-specialize the traits (affecting all pet types now). Perhaps they will follow this trend with working on the “Alacrity” traits by adding a general ability to them (like so many other “weapon type” traits had from the beginning).
They buffed some lacking skills (and kits) on the Engi, so I see this as a good sign to buff Focus and Glyphs, too.
They also added some projectile speed increases. If they apply this to Ele skills, some of our slow cone attacks could get a speed buff too.
What I would like to see them doing is make more steps away from that Water, Arcana + Cantrip Trinity we should use to be competitive (I know Staff Eles use more Fire, but they still run Cantrips most of the time). I also think we should be granted a slightly lower attunement swapping time for investing 4 or 6 points in Arcana.
My “if wishes were horses” changed would be do close the gap between high, medium and low HP professions by 25% from top and bottom, but that’s a general game mechanic wish and not Ele specific.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)

I liked how in GW1 everyone had the same health and it changed according to the upgrades you ran with your armor and weapons. I could see the game being different if an elementalist and warrior had the same amount of health (maybe 15k being the base health for a level 80) and any decision to get more health required Vitality.

You really don’t know much about roaming.
I just watched the video about elementalists and engineers and im very excited for the changes. Some of the things I expect them to change:
-Earth dagger auto attack big power increase
-Something for glyphs, especially renewal, maybe lower cooldown.
-Fire 4 focus, flame wall to do damage every tick.
-One with air Adapt air trait, change it to another conditional 10% increase in damage?
Stuff im hoping for that probably won’t happen:
People always complain about fire traitline being terrible so maybe that will get some traits in there a buff. Something like burning precision increase to 2s base burn.
I’m hoping that change a utility to give ele’s an interrupt on a utility, and I’m hoping this comes from signet of water which needs a buff.
Scepter earth three dust devil, this skill needs some love to be more useful, as of now its really not great considering it takes a little time to cast and with the average cast times being just above the cast time of itself I feel like you might as well be blinding yourself XD.
Signet of air active cooldown reduced to 20 seconds.
Signet mastery on necros gives 3 stacks of might, signet eles should have this too.
I’m sure there’s a lot im missing that I can’t think now but im hoping for a similar amount of changes to ele as there were in ranger/engi.

Edit:, in regards to youtube vids, sticking to a set rotation is almost always a bad idea.
Then again most of how you will play each senario is situation dependant.

I hope they increase it’s damage overall, but fix that godkitten FGS. Really, An Ele is nothing more than a FGS delivery right now.
Try playing Mesmer then and you would never say soemthing so silly. Elementist are much more than a FGS delivery system, they have a role in every game mode.

Icebow is just fine, but a nerf to FGS I think is just. They need to work on the other conjures though; LH hammer is fine but the axe and shield no bueno

It’s true. Dungeon mobs are just too dumb and hit too soft. If you actually sit in all the ticks of FGS, you really do deserve to die.

i’ll blindly welcome any changes they make to the profession.. simply because pvp doesn’t exist in this game, it’s an unbalanced trainwreck of no consequence.. i can easily name more than two dozen avid game players {and some game builders} who have dropped this profession and then the game entirely.. a lot of them respectfully disagree with how this game progressed.. i know it’s kind of dumb to speak for someone else, but for all the fallen elementalists i’ll try to generalize.. a seemingly well built profession degenerated into a subpar and unoriginal chore of a game class.. it’s less fun when the game is playing you and when self proclaimed heroes of their profession regurgitate the same tired and baseless arguments it’s even less fun.. so however they decide to change this profession, i’m just hoping it turns a few heads and brings some players back to the game

It would be stronger but not OP. Dagger thieves have high burst damage and rather decent sustained damage but they’re not OP on top of all the defensive goodies they can get from shadow arts. And even with better autoattacks that doesn’t change how fragile scepter builds are at least in pvp.
And I wasn’t suggesting a huge dps increase for the auto attacks, but rather some change in functionality like a splash effect that would give them a use other than proccing fresh air, I mean a mesmers spatial surge isn’t entirely useless at max range and it gives something meaningful to do in between the bursts. Shatterstone also needs an actual reason to be used. Anyway the point is that anet seems to be buffing unpopular weapons (for pvp, or just lowering channel times) so the ele scepter would probably the one to buff if they had to pick one (or focus but I digress).

I like to see them look at all of ele ICD effects and skills i think they need to become per player and not on use so say burning ash would be a 5 sec cd per player it hits and each player cant be hit with burning ash until that 5 sec is up. ICD as is messes up a lot of effects ele has and negates the fact that ele is mostly aoe dmg. Also i would not mind seeing say +2 – 3 more targets for ele to build into to hit more ppl letting ele fill the roll of aoe master.

PvP requires mobility.
We got a strong rune nerf on that as if rtl was not enough.
But you roam and you kill people so i guess the skill of your opponent doesn t matter.
As you said you killed thieves and warriors.
But as they say on many posts on their forums… if you die with a thief or a warrior you are a bad player.
I kill many of them… but i understand WHY at least (for ex. thief in PvP has high skill floor, in WWW has no skillfloor at all, lets see if you get why).
PvP => fleeing lose points
WWW => fleeing and reengage at will is how you win with no effort.
ele has just a small mobility burst then it lacks the CD to engage OR flee.
Also to mantain permaswiftness has to waste important cds (rune nerf)
But the discussion is limited to “i m pro i kill people, L2P” so i guess its a good reason why anet goes on reddit and other forums to gather feedback.
And possibly the reason why RTL pales compared to war GS skills.
Tell me are you able to troll zergs with your ele?
So you expect to say you can kill those profession that can survive for 30 min trolling an enemy spawn in a T1 server alone?
Do the same then i accept ele is as strong as the other 3 meta roaming professions.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I’ll be honest with you, I quit try-harding roaming a long time ago when I found it to be mostly devoid of fights or fun. People just run cheese builds and spending most of their time spamming runaway skills (at least in the way its meta developed). The profession is still very strong in places like dueling behind the windmill or in the Obsidian Sanctum. I guess they’re not the best at going into open WvW and trolling zergs like a GS Warrior can. If that’s how you measure your fun or power in the game, I suggest you play a GS Warrior then. For myself, I long ago just switched to sPvP proper when I felt like fighting another player, and I am much happier there. :P

By the way, there isn’t much reasoning with you.. When you don’t know what to say back, you just restate the garbage you’ve already said.. So I won’t waste my time in saying anything more than this:
If you know what you’re doing, ele is quite good in every facet of the game. If you don’t, you won’t enjoy it.

How about make Arcane Shield just a block for 5 sec and at the end of that 5 sec the number of block effects the exploitation dmg. There a lot of unblockable skills that can counter this or simply stop attking the ele to avowed the big dmg at the end. As is Arcane ability are way too pure aggressive and the only def is this shield with its cd as long as it is 3 blocks seems way too week. Even the passive version dose not brake stun for you this needs to be added too.

Elementalist
The Elementalist is now locked to a single attunement at random.
Fire damage has been buffed by approximately 500%. All fire skills now have no cooldown.
Air attunement has been eliminated
Earth attunement has had incoming gold from drops and vendors reduced to 10% of normal. Additionally, that 10% is now taxed at 50% to support… Things.
Water attunement now has two icons. Members of one group cannot be grouped with or within 500 meters of the other.
One Elementalist retains the ability to change attunements. This Elementalist must do battle against mostly fire Elementalists, but sometimes water and Earth, if they’re being kittens. If they fail, the world will be plunged into 10,000 years of darkness. This Elementalist is also responsible to create a really, really (REALLY) awful youtube video on their adventures and must at all times be accompanied by a complete moron and someone who has no idea what their potential is or how to realize it.
Fortunately, there’s an ele on my FL by the name of angtheairbender who I think is up to this defined task.

It does work with cantrip regen
Doesn’t work with Mist Form though.
You only really need stability from AoE and damage/mobility/combo from LF
