Elementalist weakest class? Hell no

The only issue with this is that even at max level play, Warrior is still usually better.
Ele was my main but I really do hate him for PVE. We are actually built correctly for damage, even without conjures d/f, d/d and Staff all hit hard (especially staff)….
….the problem is our trash hp pool. Warriors and Guards dont get more aggro than us, yet we have kids hp and baby armor. no bueno
Is this the monthly “Lets argue about the ele” post. ?
Seriously.
ELE is hard to master. Goods eles can play DnD/Staff in WvW.
We got nerfed, really hard because we were kings for almost a year. Now bit by bit we are getting buffs. Thats how Anet does things. Big nerf before minor boost every month here and there.
Your post is just saying: stop QQ, l2p. Also, you took the community for a bunch of idiot.
I think that summarizes my post pretty well. This is exactly the reason why hardcore guilds have problems finding good Elementalists, we all want easy mode and QQ while we got alot more potential.
If you want easymode go roll a hambow or whatever and kitten stuff by pressing 3 buttons. I prefer to kill easymode builds and be proud, and don’t try to tell me that’s impossible, cause it definately isn’t.
I disagree. Warriors and guardians have always formed the nucleus of all WvW zergballs. This has been from day 1, when warriors were considered gimpy with no sustain. The warrior in its gimpy state was considered hard to kill in a zergball then, the same applies to the ele now. You live because you are part of the zerg.
As for recruitment of eles, everyone has their excuse. It still depends on the player wanting to play that ele. If you think eles are strong, surely you should have no trouble asking one of the many warriors or guardians in your guild to swap to playing an ele?
And THIS is exactly what I mean. You’re all thinking you can easymode faceroll over people with Elementalists. Is that what the GW2 community calls strong now? You smash you head on the keyboard and you randomly press skills and you kill someone?
The skill level of players dropped very hard in my year playing GW2. Elementalists are a potentially really strong class IN THE RIGHT HANDS, as is EVERY class ( obviously every class has their strength and weaknesses, that is inevitable ). Elementalists are very hard to master, but once you’re there on that level, you will see what I mean.
I evade the sPvP/tPvP debate, because I know how we’re standing in PvP. It’s ridiculous.

Wow what a great wall of bullkitten. Eles are extremely weak in WvW and FGS is bad in dungeons because AI too stronk and mobs know how to doge.
Don’t even trust this Tyldor guy he ain’t even got 20k achievment points and he only has 151 games won in PvP (150 for title and 1 cuz he can’t even count).
Also everyone knows if you play ele in PvP even if you win you still lose glory, gold, karma, wxp, credit from your visa, your virginity and shares in NCsoft.

Ele good roamers? /grin. As a roaming skilled Thief (or any other thief) I can
tell you that an ele is breakfast when we find them alone. Argue the builds
all you want, but it means nothing until you meet a skilled player in thief vs ele.
Ive read all the posts “well a thief is an ele hard counter.” Well in line with that,
what would make you think that an ele is good to solo roam? In fact, Ill be bold
enough to say that they are probably the worse class to pick for that role for this
very reason. Oh yea, any average button mashing warrior can chase you down
also with GS movements and one handed sword #2 and go afk while they beat you.

Dat trolling. Guildies ftw.

Change current PvP meta.
That’s all Ele’s need b/c in every other aspect of the game they are fine.
Most Ele’s who are complaining are still upset they had their God Mode removed after a year.
I have zero problems on my ele in the game today. Do we need minor things….very minor yes, but it’s a meta problem not a class problem tbh

I really fail to see the point you are making about eles being strong. All you have proven is the WvW meta is the zergball, and due to engine limitations making the zergball so effective, you therefore become “strong”.
That’s the strength of zerging, not the ele. The Zerg is masking your perception to the ele’s weaknesses.

This should be the last argument to be used by any person trying to prove a point. It doesn’t prove anything.
Simple as this.
Put equal skill ele vs equal skill other classes and say who would win.
I bet pretty much everyone but possibly a ranger, would beat the ele.

A ranger with equal skills in PvP would wreck an ele the question really is: if 2 players duel that both play perfectly, 1 is ele and 1 is any other then I believe the ele has just as much chance of winning as the other guy. In retrospect 2 players of low skill level duel; the ele will almost definately loose because it is a high risk high reward class compared to the low or moderate risk / high or medium reward classes that are out there. All in all I believe elementalists have a very high skillfloor due to rotation based gameplay of attunements (which forces you to anticipate skills and react fast) which also means if you pull it off right you can be extremely effective.

LOL when I say PvE in the first sentence I stopped reading the post…
I don’t like swapping life with Mesmer, I just want even bigger damage to compensate for our squishiness. We should be the best damage dealing class – and rightfully so. That said, we are already perhaps the best damage dealing class in the game, although it’s very situational and takes a lot of skill to pull off.
Eles aren’t underpowered per se, just have a really high skill requirement. It’s a class you need to learn in and out and practice like hell with in order to start taking names.
But I still haven’t really figured out the secret in PvP. I’m a monster in PVE and WvW but PVP is still kinda weird. I can win matches but not on my own, a lot depends on how I mesh with my team.

Actually it does since this current meta has chased off more players than it brought in.
You kill many birds with one stone when you get rid of this meta
p.s. Ele God Mode isn’t coming back
Elementalist is not weak “per se”, I mean we can decently do most of the PvE stuff and some of the pvp; it is weak when compared to other classes, who can do twice as better with 1/10th the effort and 1/100th the skill/knowledge.
I do not understand why devs made thief so efficient at killing elementalists, yet no other class is so efficient at killing each other, but using any build other than the classic water/arcana bunker makes challenging even the most noob of thieves.
I confirm: on my thief, spotting an elementalist walking alone means free badges, no matter how good they are.

We should duel. I eat solo thieves for lunch. Thats if i can catch my lunch and they dont stealth away.

Duels don’t mean much. Most situations that a thief shines in are not structured battles, in that usually the opponent is not entirely aware that the thief is there, or prepared for an attack. This situation is extremely easy to engineer with stealth and shadowsteps in both PvP and WvW, but is irrelevant in duels, where both players are generally prepared and aware of each other’s existence.
Just wanted to point out that structured 1v1s are not by any means a gauge of viability in any official game mode, nor a way to judge the relative power of any class.

you could fly, if you could lift your body from the ground long enough and you could breath water, if you wouldn’t drown!
aside from what P Fun Daddy.1208 pointed out with wisdom, my post was exactly meant to underline how a noob thief like me (you may have not noticed, but that’s not my main…) has little to no problems taking down way better opponents just because the class is unbalanced and allow to do so.
On my thief I have up to six dodges every 15 seconds (which cure conditions AND give me health), I have a sustained stealth, extreme high mobility (two teleports with very short CD), medium armor, higher base HP, higher single target damage.
Same as my mesmer: if I really want to reset a fight, I WILL do so.
On Elementalist, unless running very bunker and therefore being not a threat to anyone – I will have telegraphed nukes with life long casting time AND eternal cooldown, a condition removal heal that can be interrupted and takes three seconds or whatever to complete, and my nukes will hit for less than certain ordinary 1 button skills in other class (killshot anyone?), with less armor, less base hp, and a super complex system to just obtain the downed state menu as result.
As I said many times, duels and all structured fighting scenarios are SPORT: you are aware of the enemy, his resources, ground, structures, everything.
WvW is war.
It’s the difference between Karate Kid and Apocalypse Now.
The current poor state of Elementalist facing other players is a fact, and if it is in such a bad spot that even devs noticed, it means something.
When I see more than one ele in the enemy team in soloq, all I can think is free win. When I do get them in my team, I just wish very hard for a way to put class restriction on the creation of a soloq. And also limit the number of some classes, like, no more than one thief. Because it seems there’s still a lot of players who are totally unaware they can actually, gasp, change to another character before the match starts. And usually 2+ thieves in the same yoloq is an automatic loss.

You must be playing with some bad thieves man. sword > dagger
Also, to the OP, have you actually played other classes? This is an honest question. It is really shocking how effective you can be on a warrior with extremely limited experience playing them. The main reason I don’t play my warrior anymore is how boring and passive their gameplay is. While eles are much more fun and active to play this difference is not seen in the results. With equal skill a warrior should beat an ele right now.
For example, on my warrior I run power/toughness/crit dmg armor and zerker trinkets. I usually trait for either hammer/gs or mace/gs (I just really like greatswords). I have around 3k attack, 3k armor, 20k hp, good crit and crit dmg (can’t remember the numbers and can’t log in atm). I also have passive healing from multiple sources, i.e. you cannot interrupt my heals, ever.
Now on my ele while roaming I usually use the same armor except with celestial trinkets instead of zerker. I have around 15k hp, 2.4k armor, need to rely on might stacking to hope to get over 3k attack, and lower crit and the same crit dmg as my warrior. I can honestly say if I had to fight my ele with my warrior it would not even be remotely close, the passive defense warriors have is just way too high. Warriors have almost twice the base hp of an ele (guardians also have low hp for some reason).
Can eles feel “good” sometimes when you are playing out of your mind against equal (or slightly lesser) skilled opponents? Sure. Can I just hop on a warrior and feel way more effective with 1/4 the effort? Absolutely.
Most classes have some type of “easy” spec that produces pretty good results while not necessarily being the best for a skilled player. (hambow, debunk engi, s/p thief, spirit ranger, mm necro, etc. spvp) Warriors have too many of these, eles have none. As of right now I have really lost interest in wvw (since SoR…) and mostly just spvp on my gs/ham medi guard, which has been a blast. Good luck playing ele!
