If these were fixed, the class would be on pretty good footing. And that’s what it’s all about at the end of the day. The Elementalist is not impossible to do well with. It merely has numerous design flaws and bugs.

Actually, I’d say that the biggest use of the Ele right now is their liberal use of AoE buffs on attunement swap. I structured my dagger/dagger build around such boons and was rewarded with a highly mobile point capture Ele. Granted, the poor synergy of non-Arcana traits is obnoxious and the Ele is quite possibly the worst duelist in the game even with the best builds, but they are far from pointless.

Agreed. There are just key issues that Anet most likely didn’t anticipate. Altho in terms of weak downed state and elites…you’d think they would have saw that one coming, especially with fiery great sword and tornado. Both too situational and both takes away the versatility of the elementalists, which really dont fit well with the design
