On a positive note for a change. Point being I’d like to convince people to make an elementalist alt. And make it the last character they intend to level up.

Busy on my 3rd character (1st ranger then an ele) I noticed that you can get away with not being careful on at least my warrior. No more checking out patrols. No more checking out the level. Not even checking whether it’s a veteran. No more skipping groups of 2 mobs that do a knockback. No more deaths from respawning mobs because some other dude just walked the same path 1 minute ago. No more deaths because of a sloppy missed dodge of a catapult. No more spawning 6 mobs right on your head in storyline quests instakilling you. And so on. The tactical bit is just gone with a heavy armor character.

As someone who will only start pvp when he’s fed up with all the content, I must say :

We have it pretty fine as elementalists. Our leveling experience is far deeper and more enjoyable than all my other characters.

Just wish I started my elementalist last. It is quite boring leveling a heavy armor AFTER a light armored char.

What has been your experience leveling a char after an ele?

Discalaimer: And please don’t start about skills or being noob or whatever. I suck ok?

Eh…

I played my ele through to 80, and I have do admit we are very squishy. The best way to play is earth of course, and to not attempt to be a glass-cannon, but regardless we are very squishy.

It will become more apparent as you level. In the low levels, it is very easy, all the classes are, but it will become increasingly more difficult to stand on par with a warrior or guardian, or even a necro in terms of survivability. One would hope that lacking survivability we would have better DPS, but this does not seem to be the case either…-.-’

You cannot claim it is the “best” level experience since everyone has different definitions of best. However i do agree that elementalist are fun because of the pace in every battle, where you in just a few seconds will have blown lots of mayor cooldown while jumping through all your attunements and also the tactical approach you will have to take while facing a larger number of mobs or a veteran.

I feel much more in control of every situation with my elementalist then i ever did with my ranger, often when playing the ranger it would either be as easy as can be or i would die to fast to react. With the elementalist i am always on my toes and always have proper responses to out of hand situations, heals, escapes, etc.

Overall i would not call it in any way a better experience for everyone, but anyone who like tactical planning, fast paced action and a varaity of skills to get you out of any situation probably would enjoy the elementalist more then most other professions.

The best way to play is not earth “ofcourse”… The best way to play is attunement dancing utilizing every single skill you have access to for maximum efficiency, any elementalist staying in one single attunement all the time is doing it wrong.

Elementalist = hardest class to level worst class at maximum level.

Arenanet intended Elementalist for only 0.1% of the playerbase who have a masochistic desire for being owned over and over. Even in PvP Elementalist is the worst possible choice. It makes Hunter seem overpowered in start Cataclysm in WoW.

It’s not the best, it’s harsh and unforgiving, therefore you learn more because no one likes to die again and again. You learn to plan ahead, you learn to be aware of your surrounding even in pve.

Yes it is an educational experience and I’m glad I leveled an Elementalist first, but it takes balls to go trough it.

I completely agree I find it frustrating that I lvled Ele as my first toon, because I wanted to try others but every time i go to start an alt I get to fighting some mobs and feel no joy, I have grown accustom to my stance dancing, finger ballet and I find it thrilling and magnificent each time I am able to take down a mob/groups of mobs with my ELe, or to come up upon a veteran or champion and shoot for the stars and when I win I am whole heartly happy, when i die and come close I say well at least i put up a good fight. If i get stomped on hard I will try a different build or weapons to see how effective that is on it, I am always trying to learn new ways to execute the various mobs.
All in all I am happy to have my Elementalist but I wish i could have experience the game for a different point of view first. :p oh well lets just keep on Elementaling it up

idk about you but I didn’t need to use all 20 skills to kill a single mob or the vast majority of just leveling. Just saying attunement dancing only really comes into play more promptly in dungeons and pvp.

way to play she is missing two combos, I don’t know why she renounce to more Might, still impressive.

btw I really enjoy the tactical aspect of this class and the fact that you are always keeping eyes and ears open while doing everything.
I often pve trio (ele/necro/thief) and am way faster in killing than ‘em both, and can accomplish tasks they cannot (so to say, the very first time we run into Sorrow’s Embrace area, I was the first to surpass the cannons barrage unscratched: teleport, RTL, myst form, arcane shield… had to wait some minutes before seeing ‘em struggling and fighting adds, while I passed totally unscratched in that hell).
If only our skills weren’t this bugged, we would be even better and while it’s true that we need some tweaking here and there (especially slightly incrementing our damage output to be worth the title of “glass CANNON”) I am totally enjoying my life on Tyria as Elementalist.

If by “BEST” you mean we actually learn the most about the game and class mechanics then I absolutely agree with you, after all playing an Ele does come with a “I hate things on ezmode” mentality.
