I play D&D , Pathfinder and Shadowrun. and my favourite style to play is the battle mage/bender. This is usually a level in monk and the rest in wizard then ederitch knight. or in Shadowrun. Physical adept.

This got me wondering how that would work in GW2 and I figured an ele elite spec would work perfectly

Elemental fist/Elemental adept/Martial artist
New weapon: Cestus (I imagine it as a pair that act as a 2 handed weapon, explain more on that later)

This spec would completely change how the ele works. it would still have attunements but they will be called styles.
It’s new Utility skill would be Stances

Unique mechanic
With cestus equipped you get a unique combo system. every weapon skill will link to the others and create a combo system. skills 1-4 all link together. skill 5 is a finisher and it will change based on the order you used skills 1-4. As you also perform these combos you generate buffs with the finisher usually giving you something big

Fire style: Might, Fury, Burning
Water style: Resistence, Regen, Vigor
Air style: Quickness, Evasion, retaliation
Earth style: Protection, Aegis, Stability

These could be in addition to their own internal buffs such as increased toughness, ect
Each style would play a bit differently. such as all
fire style weapon skills generate a small AoE to have a cleave effect
Water would have a focus on sustain and have a counter or 2 maybe a knockback
Air would have mobility. gap closeing, evades and reflects
Earth would be Tankiness with Cripples, stuns/roots and pulls

As a concept I feel it could work and make for a fun way to play elementalist. too bad it is unlikely we will ever see such a thing happen but here is just a fun idea of how the combo system works

You open with a gap closer. perform an evasion triggering flurry of blows, perform an attack that back flips you out of melee while knocking back. having performed this specific combo, your finisher would essentially be a Kamehameha
