Hey guys. I haven’t played ele all that long, but I keep hearing all this talk about how great ele’s used to be and how much they are lacking overall. I still seem to be able to roll faces off with mine regardless.

Can someone please shed some light on what exactly I missed prior to all this ele nerfing?

Specifically to d/d elementalist. Our ride the lightning used to be 15seconds with no cooldown on miss. Was nerfed to a flat 20s then was nerfed to 40s when we dont hit anything. Our cleansing water 5 skill used to heal about double and remove 3 conditions. the 25 water trait used to be 2% per boon. They nerfed the healing on signet.

Evasive Arcana used to be blast finishers on all rolls. Heal when swapping to water’s scaling was reduced to 50% from 100. Cleansing Water (and the EA water dodge) was cut in half. Signet of Restoration was cut in half (yet warrior’s get a buff that doubles?). Damage was greatly decreased overall. They moved some traits around to worse spots. Stunbreaks on Lightning Flash and Cleansing Fire were removed and put on pointless things like GoEP. You used to be able to use Elites/Utilities/and Heal skill in Mist Form.

There’s more, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Zephyrs boon, soothing disruption, renewing stamina: boon durations nerfed most even cut by 50% Pretty much everything covered here if i recall correctly.

Main Elementalist:Train Of Thought
Alt Warrior: Burning Paris
Best Ele build EU.

Also, ride the lightning used to have a 1550 range. The nerfed that down to 1200 at the same time they added 2x cooldown on miss.

Basically, a d/d ele (the most vulnerable in game) can’t move, can’t heal, can’t cleanse, can’t out-dps (on single target), relies on ridiculously long concentration skills in melee range, and is still being looked at for future nerfs. Of course, it takes better skilled players to play a d/d ele competitively (now more than ever), but we will be alone with that thought. What results in-game would not prove that belief.

ele nerfs were pretty much all in pvp/wvw, and on top of that other classes are seeing lots of buffs and new builds emerge while we only got one. If you look at the latest pvp tourney footage you wont see any ele.

pve is still completely doable in full zerk gear/traits. If you look in speed dungeon/high level fractal vids you might see 1-2 ele on a 5 man party.
