Feature pack Ele "balancing"
I have a terrible feeling that our Cantrips, Water and Arcana traits are going to be “balanced” to give us build diversity with other Utilities and traits..
Move more useful traits up in tier.

The FGS rush is understandable but they still have to make that skill “elite” worthy. When I see the ice bow AoE doing more damage than the FGS AoE I’m baffled. How can a non-elite do something better than it’s elite version? It’s just not acceptable.
As for the Tornado they better rework it completely if they are to rempove the only reason why people were using it. At least give a huge buff in Thouhness if they insist on making it a melee skill. Logic 101. Ele does have very poor elite ATM they never truly felt elite at all.
i agree that FGS needs to feel like an elite as well, and it’s mobility isn’t that much threat when vsing other eles, just chill or immobilsie them and they they’re not going anywhere since we rarely have stability.
for tornado, i don’t really care if it’s tanky or not. i simply use it as a combo with meteor shower (the extra dmg) , once meteor shower is finished i switch out of tornado, that’s all the tornado is good for atm tbh.

I hope they also do something with conjured weapons in general. The whole conjuring needs some rework in order to really start using these weapons.

About Meteornado, i don’t think that is OP or being exploited atm. Eles don’t have a good elite atm so a DPS increase every 180 secs for 3 secs its not that of a big deal.
Fiery greatsword its also just a movility weapon because the #4 its just usefull for PvE.
So Tornado being useless and greatsword only being used for defense what elite we have left? They need some serious love, not nerfs.
About balance changes: They have talked about gylphs and that they are aware that actually 90% eles use cantrips. Well, what they don’t seem to understand is that cantrips are a must due to the lack of survavility that elementalists have. They can give you anything that you will still need cantrips for defence.
They could rework elementalist entirely but i don’t think they will ever do. They will need to give eles something really good so they can sacrifice survavility for other things.
The only way people wouldn’t load up on cantrips is if the other skills duplicated their affects.

I haven’t heard anything about FGS like abilities on other skills being “toned down”. If that is the case Bear Form and Snow Leopard Form of Norns can replicate the effect for the user. Even if all such abilities were tweaked, the “replicate FGS” functions quite differently and would probably be neglected until a further balance change.
I just pray that they don’t deem the mobility of FGS as “too strong,” as this is the only real escape mechanism you have in wvw roaming. Otherwise, you are almost as slow as a necro after you RtL, without the inherent sustain capabilities.
Would a elite channel skill that gave 80% more damage for 3 seconds with a 150s recharge be considered OP?
If not, then just add this as a new elite skill (Glyph of Energy?), and let them have fun playing with tornado as much they like.

what if tornado became a combo field based on ur attunement?
fire = fire
water = water
air = lightning
earth = smoke (dusty and stuff)
rename it elemental storm
whirl finisher occuring 1 time per second
combo finisher occuring 1 time per 3 seconds
stability
same duration as now

Better get prepared to go back to 4 warriors and 1 mes dungeon runs after this patch. and ele going back to being mediocre in spvp to the point where people curse you out if you dare to join a game as an ele. 1 step forward, 5 steps backwards. Just the usual from our brilliant balance team. I just find it hilarious that Necro of all classes is getting its survivability boosted. Really anet? Necro doesn’t need its survivabilty boosted, i have no problem surviving on mine. it just has terrible mobility. I’d rather have mobility than be even more tanky than it already is.
Give them another balance or two and we will go to 5 wars team…just wait that they nerf guardian’s damage to make different builds “more viable” and that they nerf mesmer a little more…next step to balance game is to give warrior a good “feedback of reflection 2000” skill and they will have finally achieved “warriorbalance of the game”.
And the boost to Necro’s survivability is the proof they have no idea what they are doing, with all the problem Necros have, they went to boost the only thing they had good already.
If necromancer survivability was good, then more necromancers would be running sustain roles in pvp teams, but they aren’t. The meta for them is carrion condition-burst, or berserker death shroud builds, which fulfill a roaming/AoE DPS role.
And people can whine all they want about the second health bar, but that means very little when you have no evades, invulns, blocks, escape mechanisms, mobility or easy access to stability and vigor.
Once you get to a certain skill level in PvP it’s so easy to focus and nullify a necro completely, to the point that they need to babysat in high level teams to do anything of value. So stop complaining about something you clearly don’t understand. Although I do agree with you that their lack of support is potentially more important to fix than survivability, but they need that too.

It is more about making tornado effective outside of it only use as being a damage enhancer for 3s meteornado. No one uses it outside of a wvw zerg. If tornado was a targeted damage skill I would use it more or act like a aura no channel just a passive knockback and blind to nearby enemies for 12s.

Prays for lightning rod to be on crit now crosses fingers. If they change it to on daze/stun/interrupt im going to be very sad.
Tornado can be stripped of boons, can be killed fast and requires a really stupid AND weak opponent to be useful even if you apply fields or anything.
SO its unviable in PVE, in WWW and in PvP unless for a 2X damage every 3 minutes.
Now i would argue that even necro can do that easily…..but the fact that balancing devs have somthing against eles and pro warriors expecially in WWW is Crystal clear since release.
Each nerf affects by almost anything PvP and is a HUGE nerf in WWW.

A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

I don’t see how this is different from what they’ve said for every other balance patch before now. At this point I’m just waiting to see what minor/amusing “buff” we get followed by what attempted nerf they try to put in (how many times have they attempted to nerf our elites?)

Well the nerf they teased on the Ready Up 20 that just aired was expected.
What I don’t understand that they want to nerf the burning fields of “Burning Retreat” and “Burning Speed” as well. I really hope they will think about that move and keep everything as it is for those two skills.
Signet changes are nice, but I expected more love for Glyphs, like making the GoEP more active (reduce recharge and duration by 1/3) and slightly tweak the summons. Getting active control over the abilities isn’t that awesome to be honest and feels more like window dressing than actually helping the skills. The traits I still have to see in everyday gameplay.

Why ArenaNet? Elementalist is probably the 2nd most used class and you screw it up. I’m so looking forward to the payoff for this.

some changes looks good on paper (the signets, some control over summoned elementals, traits), and also I am happy about the fact that finally they buffed what was unused rather than nerfing the most common traits (this is how things should’ve always been done, but this is for another thread).
Ele had 3 good utility/elites outside of cantrips… Fgs, Ice bow and meteornado. If they wanted to improve diversity why would they nerf these forcing ele even more into cantrips…

why would anyone take blinding ashes its still utter trash and has no reason to be even master tier, when do we apply burning on staff, only with skill 3 and skill 4, what do we sacrifice ? a second armor of earth, an heal on water attune,reduced cooldowns in water and 2seconds stability on earth attune. so we throw away a ton of survivability to get a little buff for 2 skills, so worth the 3g to buy that

That and there is Burning Precision but that assumes the traits work with each other (I haven’t tested that) and the new Glyph of Storms. But yeah, Eles don’t really have many ways to add burning.

I know this game have given absurd concept of “balaning” since release.
But when a profession can just cast their elite spam 1 to deal 8-10K attacks, another can do more from INVISIBLE…
And another has to:
1) be the most squishy in game (don t even try to deny it because to get 10K damage you are a rallybot in fullzerk full dps)
2) STAND STILL for 4 seconds
3) have opponent stand sit in a red circle for many seconds
4) just once per 3 minutes
And yet only the second gets nerfed, it just tells a lot about the cmpetence of the balancing team we have.
There is something called risk/reward that is the base of balancing for any well designed game, in GW2 instead the less risk, the more reward is the balancing guideline.
And that is why we have no build diversity and even worse no profession diversity.
But whatever we say, anet decided and they only pretend to care about players concerns…
While they only post false CDI to give the idea they cares, while they instead go on with huge mistakes even when half playerbase tell them.
Then takes 6 months to delete them.
I have no faith in the balancing team since few months after the release.
They proved to lack the ability to balance this game with so many huge mistakes, that nobody could trust them.
And hiding behind the “forum negativity” mask is only a further proof they don t even accept feedback.

Hmm..Yeah..Not that happy at all. We can’t deny that the fgs had to be nerfed sooner or later. But on the other hand what “elite” should an Ele use now. It’s not like we do stand out in points of survivability – especially if you want to melee a boss without losing a loot of your damage boosts.
And on the other hand, i really appreciate the new skills of our pets but honestly – when will you ever be able to cast your 6k heal – the elemental will be dead before even trying – and i don’t understand it either why they’re somehow trying to give as the role as a healer. I thought that wasn’t intended from the beginning :o
And pls…Why do we even have this skill – it’s like more then just useless. Glypf of Elemental Power, we should definitely get an improvement with this joke of a skill..So not worthwhile..
I don’t understand the mechanics – we should be outstanding towards damage – and i mean outstanding too any class and not just a little bit top tier. I mean weak defense – armor ( at least if you’re going full berserk glass canon ). Hardly any survivability skills. And overall now useless elites – i mean these points are disadvantages but the elites we’re kinda a redemption for these lacks.
So we’re losing a lot of damage – kay the fgs I can understand it but there could have been other ways – like not casting two or longer cd or whatsoever or an overall rethinking of the whole elite system. And Meteor only using it for the boost, not that happy either. And the rest of your “elites”…. – no comment -
And the mesmer gets fully godlike :o I really can’t see how this is fixining any balance – if you ask me – it’s favoring a class.
By the way considering meteornado is too strong for anet…. i demand that they use the same balancing guideline on every single PVE boss attack.
If a pve player is required to avoid at all cost a 2 second cast AOE or get oneshot, it can t be so difficult for WWW and PvP players avoid one with double casttime and 20X cooldown unless they state that those 2 are the casual part of the game.

If that’s what arena net is trying i am really upset. Dealing the same amount of damage as other classes which are easier to play, with a smaller risk of dying isn’t balancing. Simply as that.
