Hi everyone,
Im an asuran elementalist and I generally play using the staff build and switch between fire and water, however I haven’t spent any of my traits or skill points yet (and im lvl 30 now) and I wanted some advice from others who have gone further into the game then me before I spend them.

I want to know if it is worth spending all my points in healing to get more survivability and to help others in team fights (even though that doesnt get you as much loot from kills), or if its better just to go down the normal route of pure damage with fire attument (which I have heard is good for pvp).

Or is it even a good move to go half and half so that i’m good in all situations?
Because at the moment I feel a little fragile when doing my story quest/ exploring solo.

Also are elementalist’s even good healers later on ingame, or are other classes better?

Thank you very much for the help

imo worry less about Healing & dps and worry more about support as a whole.

A staff elementalist is much more of a support role using your combos fields with others classes and your own finshers rather than a simple dps/healer. While your leveling however it will be better to go with a build that will do some damage healing type builds are better left one youve fully leveled out

Well if you’re a level 30 Ele and have yet to spend any trait points. Then get 10 pts in Water (for the conditon removal) and 10 pts in Arcane (for boons on attunement swap). Then go as DPS oriented or support oriented as you want, from then on.

Ok, well if i did put points in those areas wouldnt I be missing on extra dmg by not investing in the fire attument tree, or are boons better?

Also if a staff plus fire attument doesnt have that high a dmg output, then which weapon combo does? Because I would like that kind of build so i dont die while solo questing.

P.s thank you for the help

the normal route of pure damage
… (which I have heard is good for pvp).

Pretty sure you heard wrong, and this applies to all professions.

I hope you haven’t forgotten my role in this little story. I’m the leading man.
You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.

Simple build for levelling, half and half fire and water.

Nuke with fire and when in need cc with everything else, setup earth finsiher cast combo fields (water if low hp) use utilties to further combo, use heal and return to fire to nuke and everything should fall apart after a bit of frantic attunement dancing and dodging.
After you´re at 80 you can start thinking about efficient builds and stuff.

On a side note, respecing your trait points is silly cheap. I think it is around 3s 80c at 80 so don’t be scared to mess around and try different things. It doesn’t get more expensive the more you respec it get more expensive as you level but caps at 3s 80c (which at 80 is about the price you pay to teleport anyway)
