I know I did this right, because I did the same thing with my thief hood. I took the level 10 head piece and transmuted the stats and rune of life onto the gem. It looks how it’s supposed to look…but when I put it on it isn’t showing up on her forehead. I have it ticked to show up and I relogged..nothing. Did I break it? Is it a known issue? So bummed about it tbh.

I went back into game to screenshot it for my ticket. I was also hoping relogging completely out and then back in would fix it. It obv didn’t though.

This has happened to me on my human elementalist. It appears in my character selection screen, but once in game it does not show at all.

To check if it was just a one-off, i created a sylvari elementalist took the water gem this time and leveled to level 10 before transmuting it and the same thing happened. Again it appears in the character selection screen but does not show up in game.

I do not want to continue leveling my ele because i really want to keep the starting gem, but am worried this bug will means the gem is fubar and i would have to reroll my ele if i want the gem somehow.

Has anyone successfully transmuted the starting gems, and if so, have you transmuted it multiple times without it bugging out?

They can’t restore it at all? I’m still waiting on my support ticket response, but if that’s the case I’m going to be reallykitten off. I bought a dye pack and other dyes off of the TP for her already.

I experienced this after a transmutation, and after putting on a different helmet, and then putting my mask back on, it fixed itself.

I have this issue with my Elementalist and her starter water head gem thingy too (Glacial Eye). After I transmuted it at level 10, it simply didn’t show up on my character anymore except on the character selection screen. I tried equipping a different head piece, and then putting it back on, but it still won’t show up.

So, I stashed the transmuted item in my bank and am hoping it will get fixed, because this is clearly a bug. I have certainly not done anything to lose the appearance of the Glacial Eye, and when they fix this bug, I expect that mine will become properly visible, transmuted or not!

This is a really disappointing bug though, because I don’t think there is any way to get the starting headpiece anywhere else (?), and it is a waste of transmutation stones. I may as well have just equipped the mask I bought for stats, and hid it.

If someone is able to fix this bug or has support help them fix it, could you please post to let me know.

Today I transmuted my flame eye and have the exact same problem! Glad to hear it’s not just me, but sorry to find we don’t have a fix yet. Please let us know here if any of you find a solution or hear back from support.

that tick box is buged toggle it off and back on

Thanks for the suggestion Szar, but I have toggled it off, on, off, on unequipped and re-equipped, closed the game and relogged, everything. Nothing made it appear.

Same thing with me for the Air gem. I can see it in my character select screen, but not in game. I’ve tried relogging, closing the game, swapping helms, toggling, nothing.

I just noticed this with my Water gem. Was quite diappointed too….

Don’t forget to post in the bugs forum and/or submit an in-game bug report. The best thing we can do is communicate to Anet that multiple people are affected by and concerned about the bug.

I wish I had known about this bug before I transmuted my Flame Eye. That specific helm was part of my armor ensemble so I really hope this gets fixed.

Thanks for your input Seradane. I’m glad someone bumped this thread. My bugged, invisible flame eye is still sitting in my storage, waiting for a fix. I want to make it part of my perfect armor ensemble, too. It’s such a unique skin! And it reminds me of GW1. Too bad there’s no option to craft something similar, as there is for the engineer’s starter goggles.

Might be the hair. I just equipped my water eye on my sylvari to find out that my leafy hair covers it up, it shows up underneath it if I angel the camera right.

In my case it’s not the hair, I can see my Flame Eye on my character selection screen but it disappears once I login

It’s not the hair, I’m afraid. It’s a bug that’s reported quite often.

I think this has been fixed as my Storm Eye is now showing when it wasn’t before.
