I am against having elementalists with boon strip
- why? – becouse why not, flavour ans rework to fire trait line that I look forward to,
- nerfed for no valid reason other than destroying ele gameplay experience, so they rather go revert their mistakes in some ways and repent,
- fire is aoe dmg that is the case that retaliation is the most effective, if retaliation can be so effective obviously finding countermeasure pops in my head.
It was already said that they will bring back the old visuals and will include options for full/reduced effects in the future, adding the effect to a trait serves no purpose then (not to mention it makes no sense if the goal was to reduce visual noise in the first place).
Making boonstrip part of the fire line instead of weapon or utility skills would make that line mandatory, which wouldn’t really make sense in PvP/WvW, since people usually spec differently there and the rest of the line isn’t as useful.
Removing the other GM traits to add those rather useless ones seems questionable at best.
Adding flavour to just the GM traits for fire would then lead to the question why the other elements don’t have that. Heck, why don’t all class GM traits add some visual flavour to the game? In that case you’d have to rework them all.
If all you want is your shiny visuals back, then you’ll have to wait for ANet to bring them back (with options this time, fingers crossed), but adding odd traits to achieve that is the wrong way.

Its good to hear that they will rewert change to visuals, if they will stop on hit box effect scalling endlessly it will help much better. Hmm. And about option to choose between tunned down and normal visuals – depends on how good it will be. If it will be confusing becouse it don’t cover full size of blast, aoe, projetile etc, so it will be poor choice, so better if they will do that job corretly.
Goal to reduce visual noise maybe would be good, if it would be reducing effects on hit and their scaling.
That one with reducing ‘noise’ of fireball I don’t understand at all.
On other hand, reflection from focus earth 4 doesn’t have visual at all, just first animation on burst/blast finisher.
And ofc first of all I’m for changes to weapons skills, then utilties then long long traits, but I suggest everything.
And urge that will happen to make all traits be reworked to fancy shiny ones cuz fire traitline would have rework like that is a bit of exaggeration.
Sweet. We can be a mechanically broken class with visual flair and style.
(Not knocking the idea. Just in my view, it’s at the end of a long list of stuff)
