Its quite clear that most players used a focus in PvE due to swirling winds.

After i read patch i suddenly suspected they would ruin it in PvE and my susp’ect came alive when i tried champion dredge and poison room boss in fotms….still to try lupicus.

But they are not even the only….something like 50% of situations where i used to equip my focus SW ceased to work becoming even more useless.

Was it intended?
nice patch really…..

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

NO actually most bosses now are considered trebouchets….because you can t block their Attacks no more post patch.

That referring to PvE…..

Mega fail Anet… if this is true the tunnel vision is astounding. Doesn’t anybody think a centimeter beyond the immediate scope of these nerfs? What am I saying, of course they don’t.

Please in the future remember that you are balancing an entire interconnected game before swinging that nerfbat willy nilly.

They’ll probably just say the attacks are meant to be unblockable or it was too strong so they won’t have to bother fixing it.

even worse is that mesmer can still block treb with sword #2 lol. its harder than SW but still sucks for us.

They swing the nerf bat based almost purely upon PvP. The few times they look further, they stop at wvwvw, and don’t consider larger ramifications. For 4 years they let that damage GW1 badly – and they still haven’t learned from it.

They swing the nerf bat based almost purely upon PvP. The few times they look further, they stop at wvwvw, and don’t consider larger ramifications. For 4 years they let that damage GW1 badly – and they still haven’t learned from it.

I wonder if there is anyone from the old gw1 team still there to smack some sense into them.

I agree with this, although I do see it from both sides. On one side, it allowed actual players to have a way to influence battle and mount a defense with their skills. When the opponent already has more #‘s in WvW and are trebbing you from the top of SM, Swirling Winds was all you could do to survive. As you have no way to reach their trebs due to superior height (aside from building one in the middle of the field and pray their superior #’s dont notice while you get 2-3 hits in), this was your only option (of course ignoring taking SM, b/c that is nigh impossible w/o extraordinary #’s). Without at least a way to counter a treb with class skills, you have no way to even slow down the enemy.

On the other side, it was kind of annoying when someone was blocking your treb with just 1 skill. However, if you had enough supply to build 1 treb offensively, you probably had enough of an advantage to just build 2,3, or 4 and cal it a ballgame.

If they really wanted to stop perfect SW defense with 3-4 eles, they should have allowed trebs to have a penetrating shot (unblockable) that takes 2x to fire, or does half the damage. Then class skills still delay, but cannot completely neutralize the effects. As it is now, I haven’t switched to my focus since the nerf.

Usually if I took on swirling winds to block treb shots, it forced the enemy to come in close contact and engage a battle. Or, they repositioned the treb. I don’t know why they changed it.

did anyone test swirling on lava fractal elementals?

I m suspecting it works no more even there….but could be lag….

Others instead are 100% confirmed….

never understood why they needed that nerf in the first place. Was it so bad that players could DEFEND its walls? and that a Treb user had to take a few moments to chance the angle and hit somewhere the ele wasn’t.

Does swirling winds still work on Lupi’s phase 2 aoe bounce attacks? If not.. does arcane shiled or earth 5? Cus… that’s the entire reason I own a focus.

PvE players should really be angry to be hit so hard by a pvp patch.

They should be, and many are. This nearly killed gw1, and they’re letting the same thing happen here. You would think they’d remember this and have separated everything before patching.

Someone high up at Anet has a bug in their kitten about gw2 being an e-sport, because there’s lots of money there. They’re forgetting that the greatest bulk of players will always be pve – that’s where their money is now.
