I was planning to kind of train myself to rotate with this trait but as it is..im not touching it.I cant afford getting used to things that might change drastically and since it refreshes the global cooldown for air the absence of 5 sec icd is kind of noticable..
Pls anet fix it asap

If it becomes 5 second CD, I am rather sure that elementalist won’t have a viable GC. It is mainly a scepter beneficial weapon, so it would mainly benefit that weapon. It is a step forward, but only a small one for build diversity.

In PvP, after this patch, I switch my bunker ele to an arcane full buster ele and I am loving it. Plus the little buff on arcane shield, my ele just became an atomic bomb in team fight.

I did notice the “flesh air” seem not to have 5 CD, it maybe a bug, or maybe the refresh is based on time interval not CDs. But this trait definitely adds more fun, skills and power to a full GC ele.

Also, I dont think it is a Scepter only trait, I am running D/D and it is jut fine. But I did think that it is a GC only trait.

I think its most likely a bug. However, if it was fixed I do not see any real difference since 5 sec minus the 1sec global atunnement cooldown is just 4 sec in which you pull of air 1 2 (maybe 3) of scepter.

It has a ’5’s’ cd.
Move from air, crit, get back to air, now if you leave crits won’t recharge it for the next 5 seconds

I didn’t say it was a scepter only trait, but works best with scepter as you can have Lightning Strike ready everytime you get back, which does much for dps. That your auto attacks in earth and water launch several projectiles, which have a higher chance to crit than one attack, just makes scepter the weapon that gains most of it.

Of course arcane utilities instantly triggers Fresh Air, so you can go back immediately if you land a hit.

I tried it out with staff, using Aeromancer’s Alacrity and it worked out ok, but was too slow generating damage. Starting in another attunement, switching to air for the Electric Discharge, then channeling Lightning Surge while swapping to a different attunement allows you to instantly refresh air again for another discharge if you crit, which is neat.

I wonder, if Lightning Surge was improved in terms of cast time and/or CD, the staff could have a chance at becoming viable for 1vs1 fights with Fresh Air..

I think it is hard to test the cd since you need to do 4 attunment change in order to test the cd.

Air → OtherAttunment+crit(cd starts) → Air → Other Attunment+crit.

This is suppose to take at least 3 second imo

I’ve played around with it extensively. And I’m pretty sure it does have the 5 second ICD. The thing is that ICD starts as soon as a crit activates Fresh Air, so by the time you switch to air use a skill or two and swap out. The CD will already be reset, or almost be reset. So it might seem like it doesn’t have a 5sec ICD due to the fact an early crit in another attunement will make air ready again in less then 5 seconds after swapping out.

Basically it’s seems to not have an ICD because you’re reading 5sec ICD as if it doesn’t trigger until you leave air. So you’re correlating the ICD with Air having a 5 second attunement recharge. I was confused about it at first as well but doing some testing showed what’s really happening.

It’s actually pretty easy to test it with Arcane power. Swap out of air, and as soon as Fresh air goes off switch to air, then switch out immediately. Pop Arcane Power and you’ll see it will not trigger Fresh Air immediately it’ll take another 3-4 seconds.
