Hello I have a simple question, if I am tuned to air while fresh air is equipped, if I overload an element and then achieve a critical, does the overload (Air9) reloads? do I have to switch elements for it to work?

Yes you have to swap elements. You cannot swap from Air to another element and still keep the Overload going (only the aftercast keeps going). In order to use the Fresh Air trait with Air Overload you need to fully complete the Overload in Air, swap out of air and get a crit (I believe the Air aftercast AoE can count) and then you get the reset.

An Air aftercast AoE does count so if you quickly change attunements (to Fire, Water, or Earth) after overloading, the Air AoE can crit and refresh your air attunement. This will allow for almost instantaneous switch back to Air. However, your crit chance does have to be fairly high to achieve this consistently.

The easiest way I’ve found so far, is to just equip an arcane skill as they always crit. Switch elements then use your arcane to recharge Air.

You can also use sigils and runes to get a guaranteed crit for when you want to take advantage of Fresh Air. I haven’t tried the rune method yet, but the sigil method is wonky because you have to be in combat, mentally note the hidden cooldown of sigils, and make sure you aren’t already in Air when you trigger the sigil. XD

BTw, even though it’s a fun combo to play around with, I abandoned it because there was better, and safer forms of higher dps available to the tempest.

Kind of sucks how I got all excited when the possibility of that combo clicked, and then I realized it wasn’t the secret weapon I always wanted. I really do hope someone finds a good use for it, as it would be a shame for it to go to waste.
So far I only use it to tag mobs in cursed shore.
