Just wrong air overload procs something like 15 Vulnerability and hits 1k hits for 8 hit that homes in on targets, what stream where you watching?

It has vuln as well and then lingers like the fire one which is a field you can use earth 2 for more vuln
Air auto is the only thing you lose while channeling everything else is isntant.

5 sec in air is also not big deal since with the fresh air playstyle other att end up on cd and you are forced to stay in air for a period of time.
I know cause i played exclusively with fa a year ago when ele sucked. THERE is a downtime which you sit in air doing 1 and 2 with every other att on cd so you cant swap back and lighting strike.
You obviously still have phoenix burst and other combos..You dont just ..overload

Did you… not understand what I wrote?
- 1.2K damage per tick
- Around 10-14 ticks
- 6 seconds in between each overload with fresh air (cast Overload -> leave air > return to air > wait 5 seconds to get overload > cast overload = 6 seconds)
- 5 second channel
I didn’t mention the vulnerability at all. What I was getting at was the potential 10K ish damage over a 5 second channel is not worth channeling it when you can do much more with Phoenix and other chained abilities.

Well you can give your allies might and burn enemies with fire overload, you can heal and cleanse with water overload, deal damage with air overload and grant protection with earth overload.
Such completely amazing things that eles could have never done before, so why WOULDN’T you use Tempest?

Cool theory grayskull, now let’s explain why it doesn’t hold up in reality:
Fresh air is a burst spec, meaning lots of damage over a 1-2s window, then “meh” damage from range while things recharge
Fresh air is INCREDIBLY squishy.
Air channel is melee range, for 5s, and completely cancels if you have to dodge. You have to dodge a lot when stuck in melee range (see above, re: squishy)
Most of the damage from fresh air comes from landing your phoenix burst, air 2, and AIR SWAPS. Sitting in air for 6-7s to channel the overload means you aren’t getting those air-swap procs.
To understand more in depth, think about why fresh air ele doesn’t use tornado. If you are channeling your overload, you basically have a big sign on your head that says “please 2-hit KO me! If you don’t, I’ll gradually tickle you to death over the next 5 seconds if you don’t just block/invuln/walk away”

All the channels seem incredibly easy to avoid and/or interrupt. Maybe if you were standing still in PvE?

No amount of number crunching will make overload worth casting. It NEEDS some mechanical design changes.

Usually obsidian flesh need te be used for avoid enemy burst, once u have it up u can channeling something. But in a dinamic game like this u cant really wait they burst then start overload air, swith to earth then use obsidian flash. So or u use obsidian flash for overload earth (and with this no sinergy with FA) being locked out earth for 20 sec OR u use it in the way u told, using your best difensive skill for cast an overload that actually seems weak. So the choose is cast air overload safe and die in the next burst or dont cast it and avoid a spike burst

All depends on if we can swap elements while channeling an Overload. Thematically, would make sense to not allow it while mechanically it exists.

Guess we should be looking for more answers before we go around making assumptions then. So we don’t know if we can channel overloads and swap attunements during. Don’t you think that’s a possible question to bring up then rather than ranting and raving that we can’t do anything while channeling them?

I’ve always asked questions. I rave at the things I know (such as damage is too low) to get them changed and calmly ask what the functionality is of things I don’t.

Overloading requires to stay in an attunement for 5 seconds before even ATTEMPTING to activate the 5 second channel
what trait line would you drop?
air is required for FRESH AIR
Arcana reduces attunement cooldowns
you’re gonna drop water?
have fun with that
you don’t stay in air attunement…..
even if you ARE using your overloads for a filler next to the trash scepter auto attacks, you’ll be locked out of that attunement for even longer, further reducing your Fresh Air Bursts
especially if using Fire, locking you out of Phoenix for additional seconds on your precious skill?
Water attunement being technically your “dedicated heal” if running signet?

Anyway, lets assume you can actually switch attunements to cast Obsidian Flesh. What now? You wasted your best defense to do less damage than you would have done by just following your rotation.

Well, that depends entirely on what you’re fighting, what range, etc.

You’re also assuming you don’t blind the CC with Signet of Air(Or Blinding Ashes if you use Fire Overload) or that you’re not casting Earth Overload and can tank the first CC.
