For me, a D/D running the 0/10/0/30/30, I’m thinking of a change. I’m thinking of dropping Arcane to 20, and put the spare 10 in earth.

Where would you put them?

I am kind of curious on how many people switch out from 30 in Arcane to a lesser amount, It would do us wonders if Anet could show us some statistics on that. I will assume the vast majority of players that had 30 in arcane respect. If Anet takes that as any indication that we are not happy with the results of the changes made perhaps they will give us more appealing traits for us to use.

we need 30arcane sadly cuz of rechagre time between attments do the math if ur running DD with boons u need to swap fast and with only 20 it throws everything off big time… iv been working on different builds but it feels stuck if u dont have 30 in arcane

I play D/D and i dont see the point of running more than 10 arcana.

i changed from 30 arcane to 20 and putted them in fire for spell slinger (3 might stack when using cantrips) so i got 10/10/0/30/20 build now and it works fine with the extra 2 seconds of attunement cooldown

i ran that before as well i hope u enjoy more then i did cuz iv done all types of builds playing around with that and i still come back to 30arcane just throws everything off. plus i use bloodlust sigil and battle so to spec 10 into spellslinger dont feel worth it.iv even done 10/10/10/30/10 all cantrip build ,still even if u put 15 or 25 in arcane still feels off…

Evasive Arcana works best with D/D now, due to its limited range. Honestly, there’s no master earth trait that’s better.

You can get the earth cooldown reduction, but it’s only relevant to earthquake IMO. Churning Earth is only used sometimes, and all other skills have low cooldowns. I don’t like bleeding duration increase, and the generic +5% damage boosts feel weaker than Evasive Arcana.

EDIT: Actually, now that I’m reading it again, you have 0 points in earth? Are you using an aura build? Or are you using the cantrips + regeneration + condition removal water traits? If it’s the later, add 10 points into earth for the armor of earth trait! There’s no better one than that.

Arcana is inherently flawed because it’s required for us to be viable at a top-tier level.

Rather than affecting our elemental recharges, which should have a set rate (I would say around 9-10 seconds), Arcana could instead affect how strong our unique elemental boons are. A person who traits into Arcana might find more viability with staying in one element longer than 2-3 seconds because the passives from each element are stronger due to his investment.

This is just an example, but Arcana is not acceptable as is.

I dropped arcana from 30 to 20, this is the build I’m currently running:

0/15/10/25/30

All traits are setup to provide boons when auras are applied. The 25 in water will give you +2% for every boon.

Heal:
The glyph thingy

As for utillity:
Glyph of Storms/ice bow
arcane shield
mist form

Elite:
Summon Elemental

Full pow/pre/crit damage

Keep as many boons/might stacks to increase your damage.

Correction, Evasive Arcana ONLY works for D/D and S/D now. They need it for the marginal heal and faster attunement swaps basically.

But why on earth would a staff user want to dodge roll INTO their opponent wasting their endurance and putting themselves in melee range for a measly single bleed stack or a few seconds of burning?!?

Every Elementalist still needs 30 points in Arcana to reduce the ridiculous attunement recharge time. Maybe Staff players can get away with 20 points, but that makes the weapon even more boring to use now.

The 1 viable build for this class; nerfed to death.

I use 10 in arcana and I do perfectly swapping attunements and keeping my rotation going…. I don’t know what you guys are lacking…

With Arcana 20, you just have to be slightly more thoughtful of the way you cycle through attunements. It’s not that hard, and this is coming from a chaotic WvWvW yesterday.

As for earth, I take the armor of earth trigger on 50% one. Saves lives, that trait does.

we need a Buff badly, we suck as it is and our dps is just..doggy poop…….

i dunno what build i’ll go, but next time if i do log-in i’ll be swapping builds and testing them out and see how i “Like” them…..

Don’t forget boon duration, I know many missed those lines, but:

Updated Rune of Water to provide 10% boon duration instead of 15% in PvP.

For me this is the core issue it dropped my pace too much the 10 extra earth I really couldn’t feel the usefulness. EA is still half worth it for the extra heal/cleanse in water I cant deny that. Since I used to use EA for the blinds etc any its still integral in my playstyle but it doesn’t feel like a 30 point skill anymore. Its so weird. I still “need” it but it feel kittened to the point that I should drop it but I really don’t want to.

D/D only needs 20 arcane to properly fit in its rotation that is hard capped at 15s due to how all its cds line up.

10 arcane is even somewhat possible, but is really a bit too tight as it simply leaves too little margin (and Renewing Stamina is simply incredible with D/D).

Anyway, to answer the OP. Earth’s Embrace is your trait of choice. Your other option for 10 points would be Spellslinger in fire (requires three cantrips).

(Build only shows trait lines and skills i use, i haven’t put any gear into it, got lazy)

also, if you use the earth armor utility skill you can now replace that with another utility slot ^.^

Not much of a loss imo, rotation still stays the same, a bit slower but more viable now.
(also, EA water skill seemed to have been nerfed IMO, i seem to be healing myself much lower using it so it has became useless to me..probably as it isn’t a blast finisher anymore, but still sad to see EA go away)

For Staff Eles, i am not too sure..i levelled from 1-80 as a staff ele using a “Get in, get out” Build, but it wasn’t very viable and mostly focused around 1 or 2 attunements, after levelling to 80 i switched to D/D
