I was thinking of doing the same thing at first. It seemed like a good idea since ele benefits from everything, but I decided against it now. all your stats will get a boost, but your atk and def are kinda low. I decided to settle for just celestial amulet since it would give the highest amout of stats to everything, and either 2 celestial rings and cavalier accesories, 1 cavalier ring and accessory and 1 celestial ring and accessory. Much higher atk and def compared to full celestial with only very minor decreases to other stuff that wouldnt make much difference anyway. I also tried several combinations of ascended berserker, knights, clerics, and valk accesories. The celestial + cavalier seems to be the best combination overall for what i’m going for. But I have no idea what you want out of accesories, so that might not be the most optimal for you. I’d suggest playing around with that build calculator thing awhile and try different combinations. See how decent your stats are without buffs and foods. I like my stats to be good all around without having to depend on food to make up for deficiencies in other stats i neglect by focusing too much on one thing. and i usually forget to eat food most of the time anyway and i dont want to cripple myself and be too dependant on consumables.

I’d say yes. The reason for that is that D/D, but especially S/D, have a large condition damage component. Celestial trinkets will buff that too, meaning your overall dps will be slightly higher.

But to be fair, I’ve done the math and celestial is pretty much equal to soldier’s. Wheter it’s better or not mostly depends on how much conditions you use.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

This isn’t an expert opinion so you can ignore this, but I’m in the same boat with ThiBash. While you might get lower power, you still benefit from condition damage which you always apply from the enemy. even when they cleanse you can reapply burning or bleeding pretty easily. And about the loss of toughness, we get compensated by having bonuses to vitality and healing power. The entire party benefits from our healing power because of the amount of heals we do and I think it’s a good thing.

Even though the bonus is “small” on the majority’s standards, i think the frequency of applying conditions and heals will make up for that.

Don’t look at celestial gear, see all the total stats, then think “Eles use everything, time to load up on celestial! It must be better!”. It doesn’t necessarily work out that way. You’ll be surprised when you see how much losing power when you put on a celestial item affects your damage.

There are certain setups where a PVT item provides more damage AND survivability than a celestial item and it isn’t always immediately obvious at a glance. Of course, this isn’t always the case.

Celestial gear is probably the one time you’ll want to use gw2’s answer to the WoW DPS spreadsheets of old:

www.gw2buildcraft.com

Plug in your planned gear setup, then try subbing out individual items of different types for celestial to see just how it affects your damage output.

I think i’m doing something wrong with the buildcraft, when I replace celestials with cavalier i only get minor boost to effective power. i didn’t try replacing it with berserkers because i don’t know if that’s an appropriate setup for eles like d/d.

Cavalier has toughness as primary stat and the crit damage bonus doesn’t help much if your crit chance is poor.

There’s a buffs section where you can account for fury. If you anticipate 100% fury uptime in most situations you can set that and it’ll bump your crit chance up accordingly, making the crit damage bonus more useful.

Even then, if you have no precision on your gear in a 0/10/0/30/30 build or something, full fury still is going to mean your crit chance is relatively low, meaning less value on crit damage.

Best gearslot for cavalier gear on an ele is the backpiece, where ascended backpieces trade 35 of a stat for 5% crit damage. The best tradeoff you’ll find (outside of celestial gear where you get the crit damage “for free”)

I tried 1 celestial amu + all berzerk ascended to reach 3k effective power while still having 15k hp with food and 19% damage reduction. Can anyone tell me their experience on all zerk/ semi-zerk builds on d/d WvW? Im running on Knight/Cav gear right now, loving the survivability and moderate damage but I’m thinking I could push the damage higher since I feel that I can dodge pretty good now negating the need for more survivability stats on WvW.

One of the great things about eles is that you can replace your gear with more offensive stats until you feel comfortable with your damage/survivability balance. If you feel you are able to mitigate a lot of wvw damage actively, go for more damage until it feels right for you.

I’m replacing my pvt jewelry one by one with celestial stats (amu, ring, karka acc) currently) and I found a significant boost in offensive power without too much survivability loss. Only burst-heavy builds made me feel weaker defensively, especially gs warriors that have a wall of hurt around them.
