I think this is a bug; I’ll describe my most recent experience:

I go into a downed state, wait a few seconds (because if you use it immediately it often bugs out), then use Vapor Form to get away from the NPCs who are attacking me.

I put a good bit of distance between them… and die as soon as Vapor Form ends. No good reason whatsoever.

I respawn with no armor damage.

This has happened at least 3 times in the last week. And to answer the question ahead of time: no, I’m not using it repeatedly and thereby taking increasing “downed penalties”.

I also notice that if you take any “fall damage” while in Vapor Form it kills you as soon as the form ends as well.

u get another down penalty every time vapor form ends and u end back down. so usually if ur in combat, and end up able to vapor twice, ull end up basically dead/is dead on down after the 2nd vapor.

If you read the post, you will see that I actually answered that in advance in anticipation of people saying JUST this.

This is happening on the first use.

lol, down penalty does stay on u for abit. i merely states what it does incase u had previous down penalty stacked but w/e.

vapor form does not stop any previous conditions that is stacked on u. so if u got 2 many DoTs stacked on, u can die after going back down, i dont know if u take DoT dmg while in vapor form but its possible on that count also.
