I am starting to level an elementalist after having played primarily a necromancer for the longest time. Having compared it to necromancer minions I am discovering that the duration timer on the lesser elementals makes them considerably less fun than the minions. I have not received the elite elemental yet, though.

I feel like removing the duration limit would make the glyph of elemental more fun. Would there be any drawbacks to doing so?

competitively they would be a little over the top since doing so would make it so they could be up at all times. this brings in the boons conditions and effects they all have being permanently available. for example a 2 second stun on elite air ele with a 15 second CD or the cripple/chill removal with swiftness buff on the lesser air ele. or the gain might on lesser fire ele would give ele way too much access to game changer conditions

don’t worry, elementals (and glyphs for that matter) are pretty bad.

downed state is bad for PVP

Ele just not a pet class like a necro or ranger and maybe eng. Ele is a light pet class like all the other classes (war i do not think you can call banners pets) so ele pets are more about doing somthing then being a full time pet.

The lesser ice elemental is a realty good free frost field that non staff ele can get use out of the air elemental is a good counter movement cc the fire can help cc the other person the earth is just hard to kill more of the tank. For the greater ice is very good gen use heal cc mix air good for dmg / cc fire is a very powerful burst dmg with some nice burn and earth is a tankly cc and makes you tankly too.

The big problem with eles pets is that they need to be in combat to work and you cant just simply ground target the ability the pet needs to run up to something and use it even if the ability is aoe.

I say just make the pet ability usable at all times and have most of them have a ground target that you can chose where they go off.

Are you kidding me right now? Give me almost any other skill and I will take it over the glyph regardless of whether or not it stays up.

I agree. It would make the game a bit easier because you have a pet for PVE so you won’t die that fast.

So a change in PVE would be ok for me.

lesser lighting has a pseudo stunbreak it releases immoblize chill and cripple i think dazes and knockdowns still arent effected

and the elite lighting has a 1 second stun both the lesser and elite skill have only a 15 second CD for the “movement release break” and the stun

You forgot to mention that the elemental’s command attacks are activated the next time the elemental performs an attack—which means if the elemental is killed during that time period of no actions, then you get nothing.

this is true but even in WvW i tend to find they dont die nearly as easily as they should
