Good Tempest WvW Zerg Build?
Hi, its tough to say because all builds are pretty bad, but for large scale it may be better going celesital. This is mainly due to the fact that you need healing power to sustain your allies a bit. Another plus to tempest is boon sharing.
I’d try something like this, which allows for you to maintain a good amount of might to share with allies. You also gain healing on auras so you will heal a bit every time you attune to fire or if soothing ice or elemental bastian procs the frost aura.
Right now its more of a mid-line playstyle. You have good sustain heal, but it won’t save you from getting caught in a bomb. Honestly the only benefit to having tempest is for healbot and boon bot. I imagine you will also have a hard time healing allies when they really need it since you will probably be spamming all your cooldowns to stay alive yourself.
Bad Elementalist
Not a great ele here but i found this to be pretty fun in WvW zergs. (even though i could only get so close to this setup). Basicly heal people and spam auras.
Dunno the warhorn needs more auras imo. If the warhorn has like 3 or 4 aura skills the synergy would be through the roof.
Edit: after running another night with this build im absolutely in love with it. The sustain, the teamplayer aspect, the rewarding use of overcharges, and some pretty decent damage for a clerics build, even the shouts do decent damage. With all the damage reductions its no truble to stay in or at least very close to the frontlines sou you can keep bringing the support. Its even a pretty decent dueling spec. It might take longer to kill stuff but sustaining a 3v1 and comming out ot top is pretty amazing (and in kitten beta gear at that).
Honestly the tempest has its issues like rebound is shet, the weak’ish heal, warhorn sax as well, some traits are very weak and due to the nature of overloads it doesn’t seem to be viable for anything but auras and a tankier setup. But oh boy is that one setup fun to play.
Making ascended clerics in preparation for HoT for sure!

Oh yes that staff cleric is nice :-). But i would even remove lighning flash and use the third aura shout.
But there is a problem. No speed ….

Yeh its super fun! About the fire aura, it applies burning. So does that burning calculate my condi damage or the one who has got the aura?
Also i haven’t really had any speed problems. There is windborn speed, swiftness on an auras every 20 secs( why is there even an icd?…), swiftness when overloading and finally two lightning fields for people to blast in.
OK right it has good swiftness. The rune gives it on auras :-). So one more reason to get feel the burn, because its on 20s CD. I know the flash ist great, saved me yesterday again … but going all shouts is tempting when you trait them.
Yea after i get the chance to play more with the spec and get used to the gameplay i also intend to run all utility shouts and rely on positioning.
There is also the alternative to run full shouts (including the heal) with trooper runes for the condi cleanse. I think there are some benefits to this but overall i like the radiance build better. Wish the heal shout scaled better.

I like your guys thoughs on this tempest d/wh healing bunkly build for wvw.
It should heal about 1.5k per aura so 3k for shout auras due to doable aura effect. It should do ok dps dmg just no real spike dmg. It will NEED a gurd or 2 in pt to keep it going but this is a very team aimed build and is comply useless with out at least 5 ppl to heal.
A better version i think.

I was messing around with something like this awhile back. It is potentially the only viable tempest build, imo. Critical hit immunity and 55% dmg reduction with protection on auras is the only way I think an elementalist could stand on the front line. It reduces you down to essentially a heal and buff machine with some decent dmg. Overload Earth is only one you could probably use without dying, but it locks you out from your main form of dmg mitigation for a long time.
Only difference I had was Latent Stamina over Unstable Conduit. With the addition of magnetic aura to Sand Squall, you have access to all 4 auras with this setup. An occasional additional aura from the few times you can pull off an overload without killing yourself isn’t worth passing up vigor on water attunement. Vigor is potentially one of the strongest boons and being able to do AoE vigor on frontline is pretty awesome.
Powerful Aura is questionable, since Fire and Ice are already granted to other people. However, your two strongest auras, Lightning and Magnetic, require the trait to share with the front line. Now, if you could use the shout, apply fire to yourself and 4 people and then apply fire to 4 completely seperate people from Powerful Aura, that would be awesome and kind of insane.
And boon share!
So far, this is only build I have seen with tempest where everything synergizes and you potentially fulfill some kind of useful role, provided you can stay alive.
Edited to Add: Btw, Soothing Ice loses synergy with Stoneheart, so I think Stop, Drop and Roll is a better choice.

I didn’t test this, but since group members have priority over shared boons (and auras?) and if you are within a 600 radius to your group but outside of a 360 radius, wouldn’t they get the effect of the shout because of priority but the aura share would then go to the people in your proximity?

Absolutely no idea. First time we’ve had two seperate mechanics for applying AoE auras where one could potentially trigger the other.

I guess my aim is to go all in on healing and only partly staying alive though every thing. So having auras heal and maxing out the number of auras you can put out is key. All your shout auras are doable heals so you have 4 skills (water overload fire and ice shout and the shout heal) that heal for 2k+ one with the highest cd of 25 sec and it heals for a lot more then 2k. Every aura you have applied on your self should heal your team (5 ppl) for 1k each. The heal out put seems to be high though i not worked out the numbers and things are subject to changes such as getting an aura on WH earth 4? and the new rebound that sounds like a pure support skills that has some real potential to braking the game hehe.
