When I’m doing Gorseval few days ago, I noticed that my firestorm can’t kill an orb but my Lava Font can . So, I did some test on pvp golem, Lava Font hit 1,9-2,2k( 6hits) while Firestorm only hit for 800-900(11 hits). Considering it takes 1 1/4 sec to cast Gylph of Storm and it only takes 1/4 sec to cast Lava Font, Isn’t it pretty obvious that using Gylph of Storm in fire attunement is a dps loss?

I have no complain about using Gylph of Storm in D/WH build, Lightning Storm apllies 25 vulnerability on its own and can hit up to 30 hits but I just dont see the point using this utility skill in staff tempest since going out from fire attunement is a big dps loss.

Please correct if I’m wrong, just curious about what other people think about this issue.

The thing is there isn’t much else you can pick if you want some extra damage. Signet of Fire, Glyph of Storms and Ice Bow are the things you usually take along for some extra burst.

And the idea is to cast the Glyph (or anything really) when your Font is on CD. So comparing their DPS values doesn’t say much, they just add up. So it’s not a DPS loss in a Staff Tempest build, though the Lightning Storm does more damage and adds vulnerability, yes.

because you use it when you would be using fireball

you can’t spend all of your time casting lava font. it has a cooldown.
so yes, you are quite incorrect
