Has anyone had any luck with not dying? (PvP)
If you play against decent players, you shouldn’t be able to survive a 1v2. If any class can do that fore more than 5m, i would consider it’s OP. The only chance is that you run a full cleric max bunker build.
Already quit PvP. Just log in here and there to troll.
well definitely not 5m, but at least 30 seconds of dodging in water and using cantrips. I’m doing better with a cele staff just because all the burning puts pressure on people to back off.
I’m surviving just fine playing Celestial D/D FWA.
I am killing both in a 1v2 situation.
I am standing two players pretty well in earth. At least for a while. Nearly annytime a third adds on me i must flee or go down. I am playing S/F Fire/Earth/Water in rabid gear (traveler rune) + some power and vitality in trinkets using healing glyph, cleansing flame, earth armor, ligning flash and FSG.
I am not using lighning flash often, but it can be great. I will try glyph of elemtal power, but i know i will miss falsh it in certain situatons …
Oh an i love my cleansing flame, 3 burning stacks + regeneration + vigor + 4 condies cleansed…
Hmm I guess I should try running earth instead of air/fire. Just thought it would be too weak.
Water is usually the important part for surviving :-)

I always run water and arcana.
I’m finding it easy to survive (if your on your game) with an earth, water, arcane build. The big important factors are water healing and stone heart in earth, combines with protection from arcane and you take almost no damage during bursts. I go most games without dying, but winning…. well that depends on my team. But its still fun to keep your allies alive, and stay alive yourself.

Saw an ele going from ~60% to 0% in earth and with stone hearth in a 1V1 with a mesmer :x

It does the job well :-)

I’ve been messing with some builds and was on cele d/d (Arcana, water, air) when dueling a friend of mine. He was on mesmer. I went 100% to 0% in a less than a second.
Edit: It wasn’t in actual duel, he was trying how fast I would go down. (fast)

i was talking about stone hearth laraley. You’re not really helping me showing stone hearth is crap :o
Since mesmer is the biggest threat (has shown by me and laraley), my experience:
With my signet build i manage to survive mesmer for a while (enough for close holding waiting for the roamer’s help).
Won 1 out of 3 training 1V1

If you are trying to tank hits, you’re doing it wrong. Stone heart gives a huge reduction to incoming damage. I go many games without dying, so if you think protection and stone heart alone will keep you alive, well….. You need to dodge, teleport, cc, and the tiny damage that gets to you, you block it in earth, and then cc and escape. Mesmers that have crazy burst, can’t keep up with the mobility of an ele. If they are chasing you, and not actually killing anyone with their burst build, you are doing ok. Stay close to your allies so you can run in to rez them, and assist, otherwise, just focus on staying alive. (my build is a cele staff support build with mercy runes)
I’ve had a lot of success with this easy mode build:
Water 1,1,1
Earth 3,3, 1
Arcana 2,2,1
D/F
Pack runes
Energy/leech
Heal: Healing Signet
Cantrips: Lightning Flash, Cleansing Fire, Armor of Earth
I tanked 4 condi users on a point for a few mins before help arrived, then I camped their spawn point since they all desperately wanted to try and kill me. 2 Necros 2 Mesmers both full condition builds and an Elementalist. None of them could stop me. Were they bad? Yeah definitely, but did I have luck not dying? Most certainly.

I’ve had the best success this far with the “truly fresh air” d/d build from IntoTheMists. With everyone bursting extremely hard (both power and condis) right now, soldiers amulet offers quite a bit more survivability than celestial for us.
Of course the old d/d cele build with diamond skin works too for survival, though it can still be bursted down hard, and IMHO is simply boring to play (and doesn’t do much damage either).
