So, this is not realy a question for most effective when looking at numbers and effects.

Which skills and why do you use when you play your ele?
Which skills and why do you not use when you play your ele?

I start(Staff):

Healing:
Use:
-Glyph of elemental harmony. I PvE and WvW(PvD mode) for the swiftness while attuned to air
-Ether Renewal. In PvP(thou rarely plays) and WvW when roam or zerg vs. zerg. One word: Condi cleanse)

The others I dont use because the two above covers all situations for me better.

Utility:
Use
-Frost Bow. Almost always use because of the aoe with huge dps and Deep freeze
-Arcane Wave. Blast finisher and those world events when enemies dies to fast for the fireballs to even hit (grawls during the frozen maw).

Sometimes use:
-Armor of earth. For the stability mainly. protection not a bad thing either.
-Mist form. When needs to get inside a WvW-tower/keep/SM with dozens of enemies outside.
-Glyph of storms. In zergs when all aoe-damage is a good thing

Never use:
-Arcane power. 3 crits in 45sec, there is better choices.
-Cleansing fire. Ether renewal is enough

Elite:
Use:
-Fiery Greatsword. For ways to get somewhere faster or get away from something. Always except when:
-Glyph of elementals. In earth to tank when soloing camps in WvW and to distract the champion karka that protects the ori-node at the top of Southsun Cove.

Not use:
-Tornado. To slow and vulnerable in tornado-shape.

This is my opinion on the best/worst skills for me. Would be happy to see yours.

I never use glyphs. they are garbage. I bet the profession specializations will try to address tihs.

as an Scepter, Dagger and focus user (both on main and off-hand and various combinations of the three), here are the skills I use.

Healing
Always used

• Signet of restoration

Sometime used

• Ether renewal

Never used

• all the others lol

Utilities
Most used

• Lightning Flash
• Cleansing Fire
• Armor of Earth
• Mist Form
• Arcane Shield

Rarely used

• Arcane Blast
• Arcane Wave
• Signet of air
• Conjure Frostbow

Never used

• Everything that is signet or glyphs are never on my skillbar except for the air previously provided

Elite
FGS is the only one on my skillbar, but I use it maybe… 25% of the time?
I sometimes forget it’s even there.
