Heal & Lightning flash need love
I’d love to be able to extend LF range to 1200, and get it’s cooldown down to 24 seconds, like mesmers are able to, but Ether Renewal is one of the best heals in the game IMHO. Channeling is an OK drawback for literally obliterating all conditions on you on a 15 seconds cooldown.
i wouldn’t complain about heals. rock solid + ether renewal is where it’s at.
Elementalist’s heals are far more interesting and useful than Mesmer’s. I play and enjoy both professions, but I dislike Mesmer’s healing.
Ether Feast is cool, but Mirror’s reflection is a very conditional effect. It reminds me of Guardian’s Shelter, but it only works at times (when there’s anyone with projectiles). And mantras are just annoying to use: if you use it once, you’ll start a new fight with only 1 cast left, unless you want to waste the second one and recast the whole thing inbetween combat. It wouldn’t be too bad if its casting charges regenerated to full outside of combat, though, but as it is, it’s just annoying.
I’d say the elementalists have some of the most interesting healing skills out of all professions.
Glyph of Elemental Harmony is just so fun. You’ll get might when you’re on the offensive and you’re not being very pressured, you’ll go for protect when being bursted down, regeneration for longer fights or to lose a condition with cleansing water trait, and swiftness inbetween combat to roam faster. There’s so much synergy and interactivity from this skill alone. Ether Renewal is a very satisfying high risk/ high reward heal skill, with plenty of combinations to make sure you are not interrupted, and Signet of Restoration allows elementalists to heal themselves without needing to cast it.
All of them are also about equally useful, depending on the builds they best fit. It’s the Mesmer’s healing that needs love.
About Lightning Flash, it can still be used to prevent bursts, and it works really great with several skills, like burning speed, earthquake and churning earth. Its high damage, especially when it crits, rivals that of an arcane wave/ blast. You’re trading the combo finisher and some cooldown from arcanes for extra burst defense or to enhance your own weapon skills. And even extra aoe, if you’re swapping arcane blast for LF. Cantrips also have better trait support than arcanes, so vigor, regeneration and condition removal every 32s with LF is better than, say, not taking evasive arcana, not taking elemental attunement or not taking blasting staff/ renewing stamina for any of the arcane traits.

Elementalist heals > mesmer heals all day! Mirror is a fast short cd heal that heals for about as much as signet of restorations active. I play mesmer also and I never liked mirror I will use mantra before mirror (because is scales awesome and has high base heal) Mantra is more comparable to ether renewal than Mirror is.
I dont know about LF I think 1200 range is fair with the loss of stun breaker. It does do damage (I can crit for 1.5k-2k) so I know that the damage is factored into the balance of the ability. I can’t say I try to hit with it though I do use it more offensively than I do defensively. I just use it to setup some skills like updraft, burning speed, churning earth, etc…
With the higher CD at 40 I do feel like 1200 range would be fair. I have been recently running cantrip mastery, soothing disruption and cleansing water. I so I lose 1 extra condition removal when attuning to water to have my cantrips up faster since I run 3 of them it seems to work out.

I like the “Stun Foes” idea. It makes sense for the skill and might almost make up for the loss of the stun break. Yes on either reduced cooldown or increased range, I wouldn’t mind both, but would be happy with two of the three suggestions making it onto the skill.
LF with stun + Churning Earth, ouchies. Perhaps a daze instead of a stun.

Mesmer’s blink has 10s faster recharge than our own teleport utility
Mesmer’s channel heal reflects projectikitten th of these make them better at surviving (not to mention their whole class mechanic thing).Anyone else feel really slow these days? :P
Lightning flash vs blink is definitely a cause for confusion. Lightning flash lost its stun break, blink is still a stun break, which is fine except lightning flash has a longer cooldown.
I honestly don’t feel a longer cooldown and removal of stunbreak is justified by adding more damage to the skill. The skill doesn’t do a ton of damage and I never see it used for damage. I see it used to escape, and I see it used to close the distance on someone who is out of our normal 1200 unit range. Meaning it never does damage, because people aren’t using it when they’re in range of their other skills, only when they’re out of range.
It baffles me and makes me wonder if anyone on the team plays elementalist consistently.
If the skill had a 25s cooldown (modifyable to 20s with trait) and NO damage, it’d be worth taking just for mobility. If the skill had a 1200 unit range instead of 900, it’d be worth taking at a 30s cooldown (modifyable to 24s with trait)
People won’t take lightning flash for damage, and with a long cooldown and short range, I don’t see nearly as many people taking it since it doesn’t break stuns anymore.
so LF has been turned into a gap-closer more than a means of escape…
incentivised to be used to blink towards your target to melee range to inflict damage…

You’re barely going to hit anyone with the damage of it anyway as its got a 120 radius. It’s less than most melee skills. The damage on it is pointless. I’d rather have a shorter CD.
