I’ve decided that my third lvl 80 toon is going to be a support/dps Tempest. I know that building this way means I won’t excel in either area, but I’m just looking to be competent in both, and I only ever do PvE content.

The plan right now is to go Scepter/Warhorn, execute as many fire/blast combos as I can to give the party Might before I sit in water attunement for Vulnerability and Soothing Mists. Once my cooldowns run, repeat until the mobs are dead.

The only thing I’m not sure about for this build so far is the gear. I’ve been looking at getting Zealot’s armour and weapons with Zerk trinkets, but I keep hearing that Healing Power is absolutely useless. At the same time, according to the wiki Soothing Mists and Water Trident both scale with 100% of Healing Power, with Mists doubling with the Grandmaster trait. Even so, is it really that awful? Should I just go full Berserk and forget the Zealot’s?

Also, I’m torn between Runes of the Scholar or Monk. Any advice for either of these dilemmas would be helpful. Thank you!

How about celestial gear?
Maybe runes of soldier/durability/water or leadership?
Also if u wanna camp in water, take staff and use action camera to heal ur party with ur auto attack.

I’d rather not go Celestial, since I’m not doing any condition damage besides the Burning I inflict as a side effect of my fire fields, and I’d rather be more focused in my role than all over the place.

Runes of Water look pretty interesting, though. I’ll think about it. Thank you for your input!

rune of the monk is better than water. 10% heal takes more to get than 5% boon duration

and no, healing power is far from useless, in places where healing is useful in the first place

Healing power is better at increasing certain sources of healing than others.

As you stated, soothing mist and water trident scale well. As do regeneration, healing ripple and elemental bastion.

There are other sources that don’t scale nearly as well, the most prominent being blast finishers in water fields and Wash the pain away.

Outgoing healing modifiers such as the ones on monk runes, aquatic benevolence, sigil of transference, … Affect all forms of outgoing healing equally, with the drawback of not increasing self-healing whatsoever.

I feel compelled to remind you that you might run into some resistance when trying to run a build like this. Whether they’re right or not, people in your dungeon/fractal runs might call you out for using it, moreso because the meta dps ele spec does unparalleled dps. Blasting fire fields is more or less obsolete with phalanx strength and revenants, and vuln is not hard to come by either.

That said, if you’re intent on doing this, then I’d say yes, healing power is a great stat in group. With decent investment in healing power and outgoing modifiers you can be ticking nearly 1k aoe heals per second just from regen and soothing mist.

If you’re looking to run a build that keeps some of these themes, while not being… well… bad. Look into running fresh air D/WH meta build, but swap fire for water. You’ll still be keeping up 100% soothing mist uptime and be able to use your important water skills off cooldown, while also having very competitive dps from air overload spam, excellent vuln stacking and great healing over time with harmonious conduit. Using S/WH instead is a pretty meaty dps loss, but doable. Using zealot’s and monk runes and the like is also not totally unreasonable, since they’ll greatly amplify your healing (although not strictly necessary)

Hello, you don’t need to invest in that much defensive stats to provide good healing to allies.

You can run this and just change the sigils and runes to support healing of allies.

Change Ferocious Winds to Zephyr’s boon and change the fire traitline to water would be my overall recommendation for what you want.

nah. I run a build with 1k healing power about 50% of the time in fractals and dungeons and have literally never seen anyone who had a problem with it

and I’ve run fractals a lot. have ad infinitum and have had all fractal achievements done since well before the item’s release

ele has unparalleled dps but also has the highest healing power scaling by an even larger margin
