Guild Wars 2

Finally decided to bite the bullet and bought GW2 and to my discredit I have researched zero into this game. Started browsing the forums and had a question that I hope can get clarified.

At character creation for the Elementalist, we choose a path (fire, earth, etc). What bearing if any does it play in the game long term? Does choosing a specific path make that path stronger down the road or is it simply story line related along with icon on forehead?

Choosing a particular headband just gives your character that item when you enter the game; it has no effect on his/her storyline or abilities. These are items you can only get through picking them in character creation, though, so they’re fairly unique.

I’m not sure. I think it is purely for RP or flavour. I’ve not seen it impact my elementalist (at lv 37) yet, so I doubt it has any significant or gameplay influence.
