Help with elementalist build for WvW
Use this one:
It’s really flexible and strong in any situation.
Yuk, these are really the “I don’t wanna die and I don’t care about damage” builds. There is zero offensive stats in there at all.
0/30/0/20/20 for staff with 3 cantrips, air VI, IX, XII, water III, IX
0/20/0/20/30 for daggers with 2 cantrips and arcane blast finisher
With these stats and maxed out gear I get 7-10K+ meteors with some might stacks while having over 22k hp with stacks of guards defense and food.

what gear?
These are pretty beefy staff suggestions. I roll staff all out 20/30/0/10/10 or 30/20/0/10/10. I guess those builds work if you are trying to provide everything though. I don’t have to change my gear much to get good damage. Thought I prefer my all cavalier armor set for glassy staff.
I just feel for group play with very little boon duration you can permanently give your group fury and 3 stacks of might with persisting flames. I would really take a look at fire magic next time you roll staff it is very very fun. It is easy to get synergy off of the 25 point trait in fire magic. Even condition management is there in fire with the new burning fire trait.
You want deeps on staff must put points in fire it’s the best attunement on staff. The auto attack is probably 1500 range (it’s definitely more than 1200) and it AOE’s 240 you can have it proc burns for synergy on burning rage.
I don’t see a reason to go deep arcana or tanky staff unless that is what you really want. With the safety of 1200 range I would put more damage on which is not full celestial but zerk/valk at least on trinkets.
I like 20/30/0/10/10 the best since you can proc air 15 often and it really helps if someone does close in on you at less then 900 range.

“I’m relatively inexperienced” => a full DPS build is probably a bad choice for him.
And no damage? 3.3k+ attack (including food + stacks), 58% crit chance (including fury) and 84% crit damage are definitely more than no damage. You also have increased condition damage => more damage.
The best thing about the build is you basically never die (cantrips + perma regen + perma condition removal + lots of vigor and protection) and you can support the zerg/group extremely well. AoE might and heals, lots of condition removal and so on.
I would say try to start with a more defensive build and if you feel safe enough you can go for more damage. Nothing is more annoying than another rallybot in your zerg who just wants to see those big numbers.
Here is what you do. Scrap your elementalist and roll a warrior.
Seriously, freaking kitten easy now. It is almost like I have the best traits of EVERY class rolled into one nearly unkillable, un CCable, uncatchabel, dps character of doom. I’m surprised I don’t have stealth even though I don’t need it. I hated this game until I switched recently. Now it is fun again.

Well, there are some good players that are inexperienced, I used to be one of those. For me 0/30/0/20/20 isn’t full dps at all. Ether renewal removes 8 conditions, why would you need 30 in water? Your gear/food/stacks should give you vitality, not your build. As for 30 in arcana, it will not make him stay alive longer if he’s inexperienced.
It’s just my opinion, I understand the idea, but sending people to full bunker then the meta is berserker seems strange to me. The ele is supposed to survive with CCs, perma vigor, protection and cantrips. Adding triple condi removal on top of that and unnecessary toughness seems over the top. If he’s really inexperienced he’ll just die with 1 more hit anyway.

I should clarify. I’m new to the ele, but I’ve played the game since launch (ish). I have a warrior, guardian, mesmer, and thief that I feel very comfortable with. I also had a ranger, but I deleted him.
But, when I start with those characters there will standard variations that I could use to get started. This is almost exclusively for WvW, so I don’t know what the meta is. But usually more tanky than PvE. Most of the armor and stuff was created a while ago (my ele has been on the back burner since the RTL nerf).
I imagine I will end up being pretty good, but I’m unfamiliar with the class, rotations, etc. Which is what I meant by inexperiences.

Another asked but didn’t get a response – what build are you using – as in what gear, gems, sigils or runes are you using – please post the full build asap. If I can do 7K meteor I’d like to know how.
I am ALSO almost exclusively WvW so knowing WHICH of the bare bones you posted works with what conditions?
What is Dagger/Dagger for
What is Staff for
Which situation for which and should we be ready to switch between them for solo and zergs?
Thanks.
