How Ele should have worked..
Interesting idea, but I doubt if it is working idea. The basic idea of weapon skills in GW2 is not allowing us to choose or modify weapon skill set on our own.
However, I find your idea sounds very fun. I am using d/d condition build, so that I came up with this skill set.
1. Stone Shard (best bleeding skill imo)
2. Drake’s Breath (bread and butter burning skill for me)
3. Burning Speed (damage/dash) or Water Trident (healing)
4. Ride The Lightning
5. Cleansing Wave (healing/condition cure) or Fire Grab (damage)
For power build
1. Fireball (1200 range) or Arc Lightning
2. Dragon’s Tooth (with Earthquake/Updraft) or Cone of Cold (healing/damage)
3. Phoenix (best scepter skill imo) or Burning Speed (damage/dash)
4. Ride The Lightning or Earthquake (with Dragon’s Tooth)
5. Cleansing Wave (healing) or Updraft (with Dragon’s Tooth)
This makes me fun just for thinking about it
But, yeh. This change will make us less versatile profession, even though those skills get boosted. Obviously fun idea though.
So basicly…..
let´s do what we already do but without the hassle of learning to attunement swap?

This isn’t a class mechanic, this is allowing a single profession to operate on a completely different system, and a broken one at that.
EDIT: Oh wait, I think I see what you’re saying now, you need to make your post more clear.
Oh yeah… maybe I shouldn’t have mixed different weapon skills altogether :P

Not quite. Let us use the abilities we want to use, not what happens to be off cooldown.

erhm…..if i need to explain to you why using skills just because they´re off cooldown is bad i´m not sure i´m willing to continue this conversation.
We can use abilities we want to use, cooldowns are there to balance it (let´s not delve in to wether it´s balanced right now or not). It just happens that there´s a system in place that requires us to use multiple sets of skills and swapping between them to achieve that. In exchange we have ability to change the skill chains we´re using even mid combo, to achieve various different results.
And no, we´re not going to get derailed into debate wether it´s currently less effective than what other professions get, that´s not the point here.
