To get numbers like that you have to be full glass hitting full glass opponents. All builds have some support built in due to staff CC and fields. I wouldn’t suggest full glass builds to new WvW players (or anyone) unless you have some allies nearby who will rez you constantly and protect you from the thieves who will hunt you relentlessly.

Something like 25-30-0-10-5 with every damage boosting trait you can take, full zerker gears, scholar runes or ruby orbs, signet of fire for precision, and an arcane skill to proc the +crit damage after arcane use trait in air. Probably mist form as an oh-&^%& button, too glassy for armor of Earth to help much.

Hats off to all the ones who stood before me, and taught a fool to ride.

Im guessing you saw a screen shot of that in WvW.

Here is the trick; balls to the wall zerker staff 30/20/0/0/20, can also do 30/20/0/10/10 for more damage. Cast meteor shower, stay in fire, cast tornado.

Tornado actually doubles your amount of power, so a 6k meteor will hit 12k, I have personally hit 13k on what im guessing was an upleveled toon or some poor squishy.

Traits to focus are 10% on fire attunement, 20% more damage to <33% hp targets, 10% crit damage increase on arcane, 10% damage above 90% hp coupled with scholar runes, blasting staff.

Power, or any other stat, do not have diminishing returns. They all scale linearly. An increase of 100 power, for example, will add the exact same damage amount per swing regardless of your current power.

Depends on how you define diminishing returns, agreed power will always add the same damage, but the higher the number the less relevant flat increases become. Crit damage and damage modifiers become more and more important the higher your power and damage, so the point of my post still stands. If you’re trying to do crazy damage while at 4k power and high crit chance, you don’t want more power but more crit damage and dmg modifiers

The new build to maximize this isn’t 30/20/0/0/20 it’s 30/10/10/10/10. Your base power will be around 3,500 full ascended glass zerker, crit rate is about 40% and base crit something like 80%.

Then you buff up with Spicy butternut squash soup and the superior maintenance oil for extra power and crit Dmg,getting your crit to around 110%.

Take full scholar runes, have two staves, one bloodlust, one force. Gt up to 25 stacks, then switch to force staff.

Take Internal, The GM trait for fire fields, Bolt to the Heart, Stone Splinters, Vital Striking and Arcane 20% cooldown. Forgot the trait. Then keep arcane Power in your util slot (you also usually use arcane wave blast your lava font for fury).

At this point, with all the right conditions, you Nado and you can easily meteo for 10k or more. If you have additional support, like warrior banners and guardians Gather Might you can even hitn20k.

u don’t need full zerker with this setup u get 94% crit chance while in tornado…..
no one cares about 6%.
imho it’s already enough if u just have 80% crit in tornado even a non crit meteor will hit hard, watch your stacks, dont forget the wvw buffs -they are just awesome- and crit like hell.

Why 30/10/10/10/10 when with 25 points in air you get Weak Spot and with 10 in water Piercing Shards.Do Meteor go water attunement and hit meteor.See numbers!
Zerker is nice if you want to have an effective power near 8k but i have tested it and even if you run with an organised guild you are a walking corpse should you decide to go for that chokepoint where you guild-blob needs to pass in order to do any dmg at all.Specialy with Scholar runes.Celestial is the best alternative.Huge survivability difference and a little less dmg.

I have been running full zerk Ele for a long time in wvw and kill dozens of enemies before I ever die. I’m not a walking corpse,, the enemy is.

As for switching to water for piercing shards, I’d rather not because that’s time away from fire attunement where I could actually be doing damage with lava font and fire ball. If you’re running lightning hammer you could do this, but if you’re doing fire staff it’s not gonna work.

Celestial gear is nice, I’ll try that someday if I ever get the mats and crafting to make it. First though I need to make a bifrost.

I would never use vital striking or scholar runes because I am up against guild groups that use retal. Thanks for all the info though.
