yes please respond dev, I have not posted much on these forums because I was content with how Elementalist played and I figured hey it might not be the all start uber killing machine but it most certainly is a very fun and unique class to say the least. Now limiting our builds further and limiting our play style that is already some what limited it is getting quite appalling. I do hope some dev or forum mod. can pass along this message, or at least flag it for review.

A blast finisher on every roll? Yes, that should have been fixed straight away. I even reported it as a bug after I found out it triggered Signet of Restoration twice instead of once.
But removing blast finishers completely just ruined the skill. The reason for that is when you dodge, you get far away from your opponent quickly. In practice, this means the thing you’re dodging away will NEVER be in range of the blasts. So other than the water heal, the skill is now completely pointless. All it does is add more aggro on other targets, something you don’t really want when trying to stay alive.

Even so, it should at the VERY LEAST create a blast finisher on Churning Earth. Since, you know, the dagger version also has a blast finisher.
Seems like Anet was a bit too thorough with the blast removing. This cannot have been intentional.
No where in Evasive Arcana does it state the intended effects are supposed to be Blast Finishers at all which could also mean that they were never intended from the start.
The description of Churning Earth clearly states that it’s a blast finisher.
I ve played ele since the BWE, i know i am going to be slaughtered in here, but i don t see this big drama, also my automatic “grasp” on actual (new) elementalist is telling me somewhat that he’s been boosted, i feel more power going on in combat…
As far as i can tell, ele has not been nerfed but on the countrary..it is more roaring than it was before this last patch…
And for those telling that noone will pick ele in the future, well..elementalist is a unique class in combat, noone can match its superior mobility or CC focused gameplay or its superior escaping capabilities..and it s flashy too! :p

Amusingly, they are quick to post in warrior forums.
And to Ivano…what more power? Might stacking got nerfed = less dps. EA blast finishers removed = less dps, utility, and survivability. Skills like mist form and RTL are still buggy as hades despite being fixed (again lol). Tornado which is already garbage got nerfed; that one makes no sense at all btw. And now Staff ele is utter trash! Yay!
Only thing that got buffed is conjure weapons that no one serious is going to use anyways; it’s only really good for players NOT elemenatalists and even then they are going to kitten themselves by picking it up.
Over all this was patch is a total kick in the kittens; the jokes on us. Hahaha, good stuff!

A single trait that offers, in addition to four skills, four blast finishers, is broken in my humble opinion. Evasive Arcana got as big of a nerf as it was begging to.
I think it’s a good, balanced trait as it is now.
Let’s take a look at that shall we?
Warrior X comes running to me and starts hacking. Being a good player, I immediatly dodge out of the way. At the end of the dodge, Evasive Aracana triggers…
…and misses Warrior X because the range is less than the distance I just dodged.
Evasive Arcana should be changed to “Heals you on your dodge roll once every 10 seconds.” because that’s all that it does.
In a nutshell, I’d rather have the blast finisher stay and the skills removed, than the way it is now. It just doesn’t do anything anymore.

its not churning earth. wiki says it is but it obviously isnt when it goes off. bug list says it shockwave which is much more in line with the damage done but not the immobilize.
that may be a bug in that it is supposed to be churning earth but it clearly isnt.
doing churning earth would make EA a very useful trait again.

What can i say, i still feel my elementalist stronger than ever, beside those tooltips on the skills and traits, despite those evasive arcane apparent nerfing, i deal more roars than usual and this is a fact, even tho i wouldn t know how that is possible following an hidden math somewhere.. just ignore my saying for the time being and carry on your protest anyhow ^^
Oh and for Great fiery greatsword? Try to master its abilities and do not snob it cause it looks like a “non elementalist” weapon, that elite is one of the best around! Fast, painful, aoe, cripple, dots, and you get 2 for the price of 1 lol

Right, I want to use a conjure weapon in Wv3 and get only one bar of limited skills with no ability to swap attunes unless I drop it….
Actually no, that is a bad idea. Infact that will get me killed in record time.
I don’t know much about the end game phase of play, but here is where my current Elementalist stands.
I was level 60 yesterday trying to do my story instance, which was scaling me down to level 50. I died exactly 18 times, all my armor was destroyed, and I have zero money.
Out in the open world, I’m afraid of skill points because I might have to fight something, and I tend to only join in on world event bosses if I’m confident I’ll never pull agro.
What build works? None.
Why can’t you kite? CC skills lame and I can’t run and I have no health and no defence.
Why not just kill them? I just used every skill on all my element sets and its still alive.
IDK how a publisher can release such dross. How can EVERY other class be better in EVERY way?
Sorcs one-shot world bosses in Aion, Elementalists one-shot rabbits in GW2. It’s the worst bungle I’ve seen in a game since Stalin vs Martians.
that s a mistake, you should keep on switching attunement all the time you can even when carrying a conjured weapon, with the lingering effect and all the rest you won t need anything else for the time the conjured is up and slaughtering…

ALSO, -TWO- people working on profession balance is completely unacceptable. Even if these two are robots and work 24/7 they wouldn’t be enough to cover the huge about of skills/traits/profession/playstyles. It totally makes sense why Elementalists (staff in particular) have been garbage since release. It’s why my girlfriend (I bought the game to play with her) completely quit the game.
Two people should be more than enough. Problem is SMART balancing. You can have 100 people doing it, but if they’re clueless what good does it do?

Nothing you will say will convince me that using conjure weapons in PvP is a good idea. You lock out 15 skills for 5 mediocre ones; that is NOT a good trade off unless conjure weapons are so obscenely OP which they are far from being.
I’d prefer two people that actually play my class as a main to do balancing for it than ones that don’t at all. Maybe it’s just me.
fixit..fiery GS is OP!! Trust this elementalist who ve been playing tons of hours just in PvP and Wv3… :p
beside..if u r really in trouble being main targeted you could still swap your mist form and trade that FGS in no time, you could even pick up the second around afterward

A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

This is exactly how I feel as well. Every useful build that emerges is completely destroyed soon after. I personally feel forced to switch not only builds, but also roles (from support to… what now?).
Kwikleh now, lets come up with another one for devs to nerf! It’s not going to be as easy though, not many options for us left…

Whilst I will miss this feature dearly, the fact remains that evasive arcana was more or less mandatory to pretty much every ele. This is usually not a good thing.
Now I feel like I can go for 20 Arcana and still be ok.
you can try i did it and didnt like it ,i kinda feel forced into 30 arcane due to the long recharge of attment swap and if ur DD u need it swap fast …
I think this total removal of the blast finisher in EA is the wors idea ever.
It was a bug in a sense where I could get it back as soon as I changed attunements.
The blast finishers still created one of the most interesting mechanics in this game.
The damage and utility I can output from this trait is just so bad now … I am a pve and I love doing dungeons, but since launch I clearly realised that an elementalist is not a damage source(compared to my warrior,thief or mesmer mates) . We are a freaking high supportive class with awesome allies buffing abilities. Dodge rolling with EA gave us a fun way of buffing and moving in and out of danger.
I don’t really no where to go now … conjured weapons with glyphs ? Standing in an element (I don’t think the class was built for this)? Please devs give us an insight of what you think an elementalist should be. Show us a video of you playing after this patch as an elementalist in pve/dungeons/wvw/pvp or whatever and explain in detail why you are good and useful for your team.

The nerf is fine and very much needed. A good bunker ele in tournaments was unkillable even with 2 classes a lot of the times and much harder to kill than guardians.
However, no buffs to scepter or dagger kinda sucked.
I have to thank Anet. I had some small urges to log into GW2 despite boycotting due to the Ascended items. That urge disappeared completely by reading this. Now I’ll be able to hold out until the other large scale combat game is released next week.
D/D and Staff are both useless now, unless your idea of D/D is to equip berserker gear+Arcane utility and hope your opponent doesn’t notice you before it is too late.

To be honest it’s looking like everyone’s balanced except warrior and that toughness and health value should be dropped down a notch and boom, balance.
You want to rage, go look at the ranger forums, they were promised changes that never came. Or us engis, whose 30 bullets turned into nothing more than a grenade nerf. how about guardians lack of range, or millions of thiefs crying about their needed nerf.
Just be glad you had viable builds before this patch, a lot of us didn’t, welcome to the masses.
Devs consider that the rangers are the ones that need most dev support at the moment, especially because they haven’t even gotten the full changes they were promised to. Unlike us elementalists, which were promised downed state changes and and D/D improvements, and we’ve gotten that already in the patch before the last one.
Our “nerfs” were almost irrelevant compared to the nerfs some of the other professions have gotten. Have you ever looked at the mesmer clone changes?
I’m not supporting Anet ever again. I’ll never forget this. I’m feeling disrespected and violeted.
If the typical MMORPG world of patches and nerfs is too harsh for you, you should prepare yourself very well for real life.

The ingame description of Evasive Arcana calls is Churning Earth. Hence it should have a blast finisher. Just like how the EA version of Cleansing Wave also removes a condition. The fact that in practice it’s some other skill is exactly my point. It says Churning Earth. Then make it cast Churning Earth.

I think the eles of my server are at fault (FA). Last two weeks we’ve been accused of hacking within the first few hours of WvW. I really wondered if our builds were too good to be true. I hoped we were good at our class and some extra reward for the class being so much more complex than every other class. But apparently not.
This is really sad. For the first time I felt powerful on my ele. Thats part of playing a mmo, you feel powerful while fighting off monsters and stuff. Ele just feels weak now. Anet nerfed our damage, and our every rune set that we use for defense. Next time maybe nerf one at a time instead of bashing us really hard.

I’m just going to level my warrior with 5 new combo finishers now.
Your “I have lots of combo finishers” warrior is not much different than “I have lots of combo fields” staff elementalist. But maybe Warriors have their own version of the old Evasive Arcana, but that creates fields instead of finishers?
You can also experiment with several of the buffed skills and traits we have gotten in this patch.
Just so you know, I’ve made a post about the changes on the Warrior forums. I figured that way, It’s sure to be read by the people who balance this game.
Blast finisher on evasive arcana was not op, the fact you could repeat it multiple times was. They should have retained a single finisher per field, since was extremely funny play style to jump into fields to get some useful effect. And as said were expensive, at cost of one dodge. FWIW I don’t have a tank build.
I suspect they were unable to make a proper fix, and just disabled it completely.

My thoughts are similar about arcane, kinda feels like I need to have it, otherwise it’s too long swaps. On the other hand I primarily use a staff and I want to have AOE area increase trait so I take 20 arcana anyways.
I feel if attunement recharge was always idk somewhere around 5 seconds with no traits to reduce it, it would be fine. We’re limited by long CDs anyway on some skills so faster swapping could potentially increase build options and enhance gamplay. Best case scenario would be engineer kits style, no CD on attunement swapping, skill CDs are still there so you can’t spam anything anyway + having all skills available all the time would mean you could use low CD skills at any time as appropriate and not have to worry being locked out of an attunement. Ofc that would mean a bit of a rework of traits that trigger on attunement swaps.

In GW1 developers usually explained the reasoning for changes in the skills. I really really really would like to hear someone from A-Net explaining to us what are they intend to do with Elementalists. As someone pointed last time we got response was on page 22.
Throw us at least some bone, come to say hi, lie to us saying that balance is very complicated, but you are working on it. Just something for us to see that you’re not completely ignoring us.
To the people talking about how it was imbalanced with a bunker build, you have to wonder; why not just split the trait for PvE and PvP like they did for plenty of other skills in this very same patch?
I agree that the extra blast finisher on dodge roll regardless of whether the attunement skill was on cooldown or not was bugged but why not just get rid of the extra bugged blast finisher instead of removing it all.
As it stands I don’t think it’s a “Grandmaster” trait; the only really useful aspect remaining is cleansing wave.
I found having blast finishers fun and made me more conscious of what fields players were laying down and where I could roll for what effects or which direction to roll in while dodging monster attacks so I could end the roll in a field. Going to miss it.

playing D/D ( maybe not bunker, more balanced build ) i also extensively used it – to get might from fire #3/#4, to use combo field casted by others, etc. So yes – it’s a nerf for d/d also – and undeserved one, as it was nerfed mostly because of staff bunker build. Internal CD on it would be enough.
Not to derail this or anything I think this is another of those take X from one profession take it from all of them as the Necromancer got hit too. Like how both your Tornado and their Lich Form lost stability.
Lichform is still kinda useful still, ya? Nado on the other hand is like totally bad and not even worthy of being called an elite. They made it even worse which is kinda baffling.
Anyways….
Necros, mesmers, and eles should all unite for some after patch comforting.

I think this patch is the last straw for many elementalists. It simply isnt a class at all, its like playing a crippled version of the other classes.
Less health, less armour, more work needed to get even passable damage….i dont play guildwars to have one hand tied behind my back. How can i enjoy that? How can arenanet not see this?
I can’t believe you guys are crying about them fixing something that was never intended.
If they decided that Elementalist skills were never intended to do any damage at all and patched all our damage out, I think we would be right in calling foul.
Intention is irrelevant. The Trait was fine when it gave combo finishers. Intended or not, it created an interesting playstyle that made me feel useful. Removing that is a big deal.

I just think it’s funny how 1 measely patch can destroy all the fun I have in a game. Between the ascended gear nonsense and the nerf (and then silence, that’s the worst bit) to eavsive arcana, I just feel a bit disgusted every time I login.
I SMH at the people who keep saying “EA blast was a bug! It was fixed!” There’s a word for EA Blast: Seredipity. As “unintended” as it may have been, it was fortunate for EVERYONE. It’s not like Ele’s were rolling in party wiping mobs with the blast. Damage from the blast was minimal.
Here’s the facts – EA costs 30 trait points. Nearly half of the allotted trait points you receive total. You had to use evasion to proc it. Like I said, Ele’s weren’t party wiping zergs or anything with the blast. So what were we doing? Using it in fire to add stacks of might not only to us but to allies around us. Using it in geyser to for Area Heal. Occaisonally using it in Static Field for Area Swiftness. So it wasn’t some buff that only Ele’s were receiving. ALL benefited from EA Blast, not just the Ele.
So as “unintended” as it may have been, why not just say, “Hmm. Serendipitous.” and just leave it alone?
I find it odd that this ‘bug’ has been allowed to exist ever since BWE1 and maybe even before that in closed beta. And now they nerf it into the ground? Again, I totally agree that it needed fixin but gut this trait completely? We are talking like half a year or more that it’s been around…
W/e. They won’t be changin this since obviously they don’t care. The fun has officially ended; adapt or re-roll warrior.
