I’m a bit confused as a d/d else who’ll be 80 soon, because of two reasons.

1. People say celestial armour is hard to get.

2. A lot of people use different armour stats than celestial itself, and then make up for that through trinket/rings/amulets.

For example, I was thinking that I did well with less toughness and vitality, so I was thinking of having 4 berserkers pieces and 2 pieces of apothecary pieces for the healing power and condi damage. Then I would have more vitality and condition damage in trinkets, and berserker weapons.
However I also figured that I could go full celestial, then go full berserker weapons, then a mix of healing power and condition damage for trinkets and such. I know that in pvp I am naturally good at just lasting for a long time, so I figured that in pve, which is generally easier than PvP, I would run a build with less stats for myself like toughness and vitality, and more healing power and condition damage because of the burning buff.
So should I just stay using a simple possibly more expensive armour set or just plain celestial?

P.S. I am not very fond of farming a bunch of different fractals and dungeons like a wild goose chase to get things that I want.

you can only obtain celestial armor through crafting. People choose celestial because we get the most use out of all the stats. It is a good way to get the extra vitality and healing power you now lack due to the stat changes.

Celestial is easy to get, it’s just time gated. Just charge a quartz crystal everyday.

It looks like you want a PvE setup which I’d just recommend some Zerk and a few zerk pieces if you find yourself dying more often. I mean you can do celestial in PvE, but usually the idea is to get through it as fast as possible.

If it’s WvW then the rationale behind Celestial for a D/D roaming build is a different and more inline with what Frowny said.

Celestial is just time gated it isn’t hard to get. Buy quartz from the TP and charge them one a day. I think you need 5 for a top and bottom, 5 for a weapon, and 3 for the other pieces if you are putting it on armor.

If you don’t want to do that just get the trinkets for laurels and more focused gear on your armor or weapons.

Honestly for PvE it’s usually advisable to focus on power as the main stat. If you wanted condi then throw on some sinister gear, because power is still the main stat. Mixing gear works as long as Power>All. If you are running around with friends etc that don’t really care then run whatever you like I would say. PUG meta it’s usually expected that you focused on Damage as much as possible.

Getting full celestial ascended accessories is a very good approach. You can get them from wvw-badge, laurel and guild recommendations.

However getting full cele armour is a pain in the … (especially the ascended…)

Getting soldier/zerker or knight armour (exotic) isn’t an issue however (crafting/badge/TP/pvp boxes/dungeons).

So for example:

you get full celestial accessories and…
1, you use berserker for dungeons (scholar runes)
2, soldier/knight mix for wvw roam or havock (pack runes)
3, soldier for wvw zerg (hoelbrack runes)
4, knight/berserker for silverwastes (pack runes)

I think you get my idea….
