I’ve been playing S/F ele in sPvP with the Fresh Air trait and noticed a few problems. I’d first like to say that it’s actually quite a weak build in the current meta. Damage is mostly low other then landing fire skills which is where the main problems come in. Fire 2, I get it, wait then big damage. The problem is that this is practically the only skill available most of the time. Fire 3 has too big a cooldown, Fire 4 is useless for power builds other than might and keeping someone from self rezzing, and Fire 5 is whatever. The cast times in fire are also ridiculously high making Signet of Restoration less effective. Air skills actually all seem very good. Water 2 isn’t reliable enough for the main damage source in water. Water 3 has too long a cooldown. Water 4 and 5 are good. Earth is also fine except for Earth 2. I’m just not a fan of how it functions though what it does it does well. Anyways, I’ve barely played anything out of d/d, air, water, arcana, triple cantrip and was wondering how people feel this set is. I’ve been having fun with it and the super speed is cool though not as useful as someone would think as it doesn’t effect strafing speed which is what you should be doing most of the time.

… I still want tengu.

I realy like S/F. But i play it very exotic as earth based condition ele.
I did´t sPvP with it. I play WvW roaming.
The gear is a mix of rabid/dire/rampager + undead rune.
F/A/E (jeha very non meta).
Don´t underestimate the fire auras (swap+focus) i traited zephys boon.

It has a very hard time against good condition removal/bunker. But its totally great against zerker setups.

It’s pretty bad. Crappier healing, no mobility, poor damage. Some utility, but not enough to justify losing out in so many other areas (I’ll use it in Fractals sometimes for the projectile destroy, but that’s about it). The CC isn’t even all that much better than what you get from the offhand Dagger, though even then, most mobs worth CCing have Deviant anyway. Maybe it’d be better if the Scepter’s autoattacks weren’t so bad, but even then you’d probably be better off with an offhand Dagger.

I main Ele and Necro, though I have an alt of each profession at level 80.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

Agree. It lacks damage to be a stable threat. Eles wait for auto improvemet on scepter for a long time :-). But single target blindspam when you combo it with blinding ashes is anoying :-).

S/F works much better in roaming wvw

S = Good single target damage
F = Good Def
D(main hand) = Good Cone/aoe/Single close range damage with CC/Retal
D(Offhand) = Massive aoe burn/dps/single target damage + knockbacks +gap closer
