How is the staff ele doing?
Group roaming and higher its good

Hmm, okay. Are they any new good builds to use with it now?
Pretty much 0-10-0-30-30 (or 10 in earth instead air) cantrip build focusing on deffensive stats (such as healing and toughness) primarly is pretty good one for anything above 5 players. For anything smaller daggers are always better choice. For anything bigger (zergier) damage is what matters more.
Yes it sees alot of play in wvw groups. most staff eles go for support roles but some choose the suicidal full zerker approach like myself xD
both playstyles are focused on positioning and awareness of your surroundings. you will provide fields and finishers on command, destroy siege weapons and body control in a large scale fight.
I use full zerker with scholar 30 20 0 0 20.
u cant run solo and hope to survive an encounter against competent people and u need some skill to solo camps. I get the support I need from our guardians and a mesmer partner i run with so I don’t have a problem being suicidal. The AoE damage I provide is amazing but likewise I die really fast especially against thieves who would recognize me as a prime target. I recorded a 9k+ cloak and dagger hit once…
in any case staff eles run with a group to dish out the pain while the heavies cover for them.

I use to play Staff in Solo-Q lately. You still can’t really win 1v1 against skilled players but you can kite well with some points in water and arcane und you pretty much own in group-fights. I’d never go without Ether Renewal, Rock Solid and Evasive Arcana though. The new arcane-heal seems not to be that bad for staff, but it still heals by far less than other heals in most cases and the damage/blast-finisher can’t make up for the condition-removal from ER. My Build is 0-0-20-20-30 with Divinity Runes and Zerker Amulett.
The Staff Ele is doing great. I have already done pretty well in WvW, both as Commander going full zerk glass cannon and general roaming around. I have also started PvP and am racking up the kills — aiming for that Champion Slayer title now, it’s pretty easy to achieve surprisingly!
I still can’t really go solo, though I have managed to kill some people in PvP one on one (mostly warriors who apparently are not very good) but usually I get run over when I go solo. but if I am with at least 1 other teammate my survivability goes through the roof and I can really make a difference in the encounters.
I’ve also been running fractals for a while and am doing great even up to diff 19. haven’t spent enough time to go beyond that just yet.
Currently focusing on Map Completion to get Been There, Done That. I am so happy with playng Staff Ele that I have chosen to main this and am crafting a BitFrost for my Ele. I look forward to seeing that gold star beside my Ele’s name as a badge of pride and honor for completing the map and maining an Ele — with my Commander Tag up hahhaah!
staff Ele is the same as always – essentially a healbot that’s hopeless at solo roaming, weak in small group stuff, but is a great force multiplier in larger group clashes due to its CC and water fields.
That’s just plain wrong.

Says the guy playing zerker Ele in zergs… you realise when you die you rally everyone you lolmeteorstormed right? You can single-handedly lose the whole fight.
Zerker Ele is fine for humping towers but it’s about the worst thing you can possibly do in a roaming zerg. If you don’t get downed as a zerker Ele in a zerg fight you probably outblobbed the enemy and were going to win the fight anyway.

Like everything else, it has its strengths and weaknesses.

Not sure what you’re trying to show? Zerker meteor storm hurts? sure, but a zerker Ele that tags 25 people will rally all of them when their 12K HP gets obliterated vs any decent enemy group. Have seen whole fights lost this way on numerous occasions.
Like I said, ff you’re not getting downed as a zerker Ele in a zerg fight you were probably going to win the fight anyway.
This is the build typically ran. Zerker eles dies mostly do to retal damage. You don’t notice with this build. If mag can kill hammer trains with 15 meteors and survive through utility so can you.

I’m assuming those Staff Eles you’re talking about were sitting in the middle of the zerg clash. In that situation, the best placement is on the sides and away from the main fighting. This goes double if the Ele is going Zerk.
we are doing ok with our staff eles in TC. Come on over and get stomped.
Hehe…that can be read in 2 ways. Do the eles need to come over and get stomped, or do the targets of said eles need to come over and fight you and get stomped?

You can’t hide from retal damage, no matter how good your positioning is. Not to mention a lot of groups will have dedicated staff Ele killers, and/or splash damage. 14K HP and 2K armour doesn’t go very far.
I’m currently using staff in wvw and surviving much better than I was with D/D. The distance and heals is whats keeping me from dying as quick.
Oh yeah, I can also escape better with staff in wvw.

I’m not sure you understand how rallying works. For the 25 people you mentioned to actually rally off of the ele, they would have to hit the ele themselves. It doesn’t work the opposite way.
And VR plays heavy on the casters. They are ridiculous, in terms of skill and play. They spread out and just destroy melee trains. Not everyone has to run the same guild composition.
