I finnally came up with an idea to fix lingering element (not yet for arcane precision sorry :’( )
What it does actually:
“Attunement bonuses [aka minor adept] linger for 5s after leaving that attunement”
We all want since release that ALL trait linger. Dev said it would be OP … not to comment on this assert, i came up with a buffed version of current lingering element but weaker than the one we asked till today.
What i suggest:
" Every attunement bonus from the LAST attunement you were attuned linger"
Example with this version:
I’m in fire, i have every single fire trait working.
I attune to water, i have fire and water trait working
I then attune to earth 1sec after i entered water, i have water and earth trait working, fire got “overwritten” by water, since it became the last attunement i was in.
Pro:
- Buff lingering element to a good master
- Don’t buff it to the point you could stack every damage modifier (for my fellow dev )
-Promote meaningfull switch in oder to combine trait (attuning from air to fire will be very different from attuning from earth to fire)
Cons:
i let you find the cons ^^

According to tooltip, you only cast fire spells in fire, air spells in air, etc…
Well it’s been 3 years soon, maybe we can start hoping again…

Also, for those who don’t know what we are talking about when we mention the devs judging that stacking damage modifiers is “too OP”, here is what we are referring to:

Or just remove it.
Considering that they will restrict the elementalist to only 3 trait lines Lingering elements will be totally broken after the next update (40% nerf on its full potential).
Yes they will need to make every buff from an attunement linger, else it’s just another slap in the face after the Elemental Attunement/Evasive Arcana and Bolt to the Heart nerf.
Or just making it work as described, since attunement buffs (the 1 pt minor traits in each attunement) ALREADY linger anyway. But that would be a nerf, so.
Honestly, there are really ONLY 2 options:
1.) Implement a suggestion like this so that it works with ALL attunement specific buffs (but this could become OP with stone heart). This suggestion is particularly interesting b/c it makes you reconsider how you rotate your attunements in order to get maximum benefits.
2.) Delete the skill. Lingering elements has never worked with fire (and the redesign doesn’t work either), and water already lingers on its own. This means, it only lingers with air (zephyr’s speed, +10% speed while attuned to air, one of the most useless traits in the game b/c it is over-written by swiftness, signet of air, super speed, etc) and earth (stone flesh, +120 toughness in earth). With the upcoming changes, it will not work with tempest either, meaning the entire trait will only interact with TWO 1-point minors, and only if you build very specific ways (arcana/earth/air). This makes the trait arguably more worthless than zephyr’s speed, which is saying A LOT. If they rework traits and still leave us handicapped with so many dead traits, then it really highlights their incompetence at understanding and designing the class.
Make it actually work with damage modifiers….. then its perfect, beyond that no one cares.
