How to kill necro?
With the latest patch necros are pretty much unkillable for me as D/D. Fear, fear, fear, conditions everywhere, death.

D/D doesn’t really have any burst as a bunker spec…
You can drop Fear with condition removal OR with stunbreakers, and stability blocks Fear entirely.
Other than that, though, D/D vs. Necro tends to be a very long fight. If the Necro and you have roughly equivalent skill, you’re pretty much just going to have to keep up your rotations until one of you screws up.

Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

Most are very predictable.
Staff 2 → 3 → 5 (fear)
Death shroud 3 – 5 (maybe 2 to teleport to you)
Switch to S/D to stack bleeding
The easy way is to pop stability and cover it with other boons. Stability is coded to be the last boon stripped by corrupt boon, which was nerfed to only corrupt 5. You’re pretty much just going to roll over them like a glass D/D thief without stealth. If he doesn’t have corrupt boon /laugh and steam roll him.
The alternative is to go offensive when he starts his fear bomb rotation. Lightning flash → updraft into your burst rotation while he’s still casting marks. I’ve killed tons of these stupid glass cannon necros before they can get up. 0 30 10 0 30 are a little harder because DS gives them stability, but they don’t have the damage of the 30 30 10 0 0 FOTM that is making everyone cry.
In general, stun break or use cleansing fire when you get feared so that he can’t stack condis on you uninterrupted. Be aggressive and try to hit him hard when he is in DS to burn through all of his life force. It’s very frustrating to have 30% life force for your burst only to have it disappear instantly to a big burst of damage.
If you’re not already using Ether Renewal to avoid all of the condi engi and rangers running around, it’s pretty much mandatory now. We’ve been living in a condi meta for a while, but now it’s undeniable.
If you survive the fear bomb, necro is the easiest class to defeat.

I hit them with a 7k dragons tooth, and they just full heal and proceed to take minimum damage. Think I’ve managed to beat 2. 1 I had help towards the end. The other died in my 2-4k/s downed field (lava tomb and grasping earth), got his heal through my mist form and landed on him for a second lava tomb.

I’ve been trying necro and it’s nearly impossible for me to die against a d/d ele… and I’m a complete noob to the class. However, they are still able to run away easy enough with lf or rtl. Honestly in 1v1 scenarios running seems to be the best bet against necros with how op they are now and how fast eles melt to conditions.
I would recommend ether renewal in almost any ele build at this point too. Complete condition cleanse is a must in this condition apocalypse. You can couple it with obsidian focus for added survivability while channeling (more useful in s/d though with air channel).

I have arcane shield and armor of earth on my utility bar. I usually pop the shield when the first fears hits so I can block the incoming conditions and get some free damage in as it busts. Then I use armor of earth while I close in to seal the deal.
I play a 0/30/0/20/20 beserker d/d in hot joins and tPvP.
It also helps that I played the terror build long before the buff, so I already knew how to deal with necros that were specc’d that way.
Still don’t have a solution for the minion master, other than gain high ground and spam FGS #1.

Ele & thief main (full ascended)
Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
Hi, i play both classes
If your enemy is running Corrupt Boon, save Armor of Earth (if you run it), until either he uses it, or you have more than 5 boons up, otherwise your stability will turn into fear and you will take crap loads of damage.
Use your water switch effectively, like for instance when you get feared, then you can proceed to cleanse up the other conditions like poison which you NEED to cleanse if you want to get an effective heal off.
Stacking conditions on a Necro is sometimes better for him than yourself, putting useless bleeds/vulns on him will allow him to consume them for a bigger heal, take this advice however you wish.
Churning Earth is rly only effective on bad necros, they can easily access a fear to stop you casting, if not then they’ll just go into death shroud in order to soak the damage if you even manage to land it on them with or without a lightning flash. If you’re gonna use it, it needs to be after their 2 fears are used.
Chain all your CCs in a team fight, necro’s weakness is being CCd and focused, they have minimal escapes so if you have a team mate with you, CC him while others tear him apart.
Vigor. D/D ele’s have perma vigor, dodge roll all marks that are layed down if the necro doesn’t simply lay them on top of you.
Train him, if you’re any good with a keyboard, train the crap out of him and do not stop harassing him like you should on any other class so that it’s harder for him to land targeted attacks and AoEs on you. Necro’s aren’t blessed with infinite PBAoE.
Ether Renewal.
Get him out of Death Shroud as soon as possible, most necro builds such as the 30/30/10 build have slow Life Force regen, so with the little time they’re given in Death Shroud, eat it up ASAP starting with CC. It may end DS before they are able to cast shackle.
Don’t play so predictable, D/D ele is one of THE most predictable classes next to heartseeker thieves. Sometimes on my necro i see D/D ele’s using the exact same rotation that i use, and i can tell you it makes shutting them down so much easier.
Don’t bloody step into Spectral Wall, it fears you, hopefully you know this by now. Also if you see him cast it behind you, dodge away from it becoz he could be about to fear you into it.
You’re probably going to have to prioritize them over other classes if you want to keep your boons and have the least amount of conditions spammed onto you. Leave a necro alone and your conditions will be stacked and boons stripped.
That’s all i can give you.

Yes I know but you didn’t say that this was an spvp/tpvp specific question did you?
D/D doesn’t really have any burst as a bunker spec…
You’re asking how to kill someone without damage then? Um, throw hard looks at them and hope a zerg comes to help you, I guess.
But yeah, necro is a pretty hard counter to D/D at the moment.
I bought a scepter and put 30 points in air. They usually run from me.
0-30-20-0-20 with ether renewal, flash, armor of Earth and arcane blast. Stability on Earth attune, at 50% hp, and the active cantrip (lol, what fear?). Yeah, I know, stupid build, sure, no water, bad ele, blah blah…..
Edit: didn’t see this was about sPvP, yeah, don’t use my build there, only cookie cutter FoTM builds work there, I think the current one is something like 0-20-0-20-30 with s/d….. yay for variety……
Could re-roll as engi too. Trait for protection and reduced damage on CC, (around 50-70% damage while CC’d, depending on amulet and other traits, and if it works with fear).

You cannot kill what is already dead.
