I was kitten ing around on s/f ele and I cast a phoenix and the thing hit a golem like 5-6 times. I tried again and only got 3. After testing awhile I was getting 5 more often but still not always. I went crazy and was seeing if phoenix will chase on teleporting through opponent to make phoenix strike yet again and was getting another +2 strikes.

So is there a special spot near an enemy to target for reliable kittens and is it also based on distance from target in first place? What is good way to use phoenix borderline abusive in a duel is really what I asking.

Sometimes I get 3 hits, the other times I get kittens but the total damage is more or less the same. It seems some hits get combined and counted as one.

in general it should hit the target, explode, and then pass back through the target hitting a total of three times.

the consistent number is 3 times, but yea i have no idea how to consistently get 5 lmao

You should be able to read it in the combat log of what dmg your doing and what is doing that dmg.

Yes I was using combat log and checking for phoenix tics. I was getting:
2 light
1heavy
2light

Maybe it was golem hitbox issues? I could do it on small golem as well but that doesn’t mean anything. Doing lightning flash trick I was getting 7 phoenix tics and lightning flash tic and “1shotting” the light golem.

It almost looks like it hits them as it enters their hit box and as it leaves the hit box as well. Plus it hits for a consistent damage other then the explosion. Try testing on a person.
