Effectively used or not, how are you going to stop the enemy from dodging that massive ball of lightning, putting the CD up to 40s?

I say just revert it back to 20s. Honestly, it’s not an OP maneuverability skill. Rangers have an 1100 range (double) leap every 10s. Warriors with GS and Sword/Warhorn can outrun entire zergs, ignoring immobilizes in the process.
Regarding landing RTL: Use it as a short range gap closer or a quick burst. Or even use it AFTER updraft.
Oh and glass cannon S/D still sawks.

We agree that something should be done though. Whether you say 20s and I say 25s with a cripple. Bringing it down to 20s would be too big a buff.. Nevermind, too big a nerf didnt stop anet from putting it up to 40s. Nonetheless…

If they increased the cooldown (when used effectively) to 25s, it better have a better benefit than just 3s of cripple. As nice as cripple is, first of all it doesn’t fit Air attunement, second of all a blind or a 1s daze would be better.
Just revert the CD for RTL back to 15sec but make it only 900 range.
The healing and defense of D/D have been nerfed into extinction, might as well make it fun again to play at least. Hit and run is the only thing D/D can really do now and it needs the mobility back.

16 second RTL or just end the game.
My most favourite way to res my ele is, step 1 have another ele use Glyph of Renewal on you, step 2not get ressed, wether due to a bug or because you used mist form is another question altogether. Step 3 you died and your friend just waisted 3 seconds trying to save you, not to mention he loses a utility for 3 minutes.

I see terrible suggestions, the range nerf was already enough of a punishment, making it 900 range will destroy the entire skill, remember you still have to hit your target. Opening with rtl isn’t wise anyway. Imo revert back to 15 seconds 12 seconds traited or leave as is. And c’mon man a cripple... Get real. For 5 extra seconds cooldown.
Thats almost a savage leap. Regardless of wether you use the skill the way it was intended or not your suggestion helps neither side of the story.
How about a dynamic cooldown that gets longer the longer you wait to use it? That way it discourages breaking out from combat but encourages frequent use in combat.

Here’s a simpler idea, revert the nerfs and slow the speed of it, makes it easier to avoid in combat and nerfs your ability to escape with it.
ever simpler idea:
Revert to 20 sec and stop asking to unnecessary downside since other profession have better tools.
Also its a definig weapon skill impacting directly on the fun ofthe profession itself in the most played game modes (www and pve)…where D/D eles never OFFICIALLY been OP.
20 CD…after all the added nerf ele had and buffs for other profession it won t make it strong again.
But at least will make it FUN!
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
Ideally getting hit in the face by a giant bolt of lightning should daze you 2s or stun you for 1…i’d love to be hit by this from opposing eles , its about time they get buffed into the meta…heck Necros and Warriors are sittin at the top looking down atm lol.
Personally I believe it should be reverted back to its 20 sec cd. The range correction was more than enough to stop us from resetting fights. Although see attached screen for a laugh ^^
What really annoys me about it now, and being a melee only set (dd) I find it really hard to keep on top of people. All it takes is 1 dodge/blind/block and thats it my target can keep kiting me. LF almost has to be used to attempt to land CE, Burning Speed and Magnetic Grasp just are not enough gap closing skills to keep us in peoples face.
I would also like its base damage to be increased as well. Currently as a dd ele all of our burst comes from fire (CE is a joke skill – even landing it with LF its still too easy to dodge) burning speed is too easy to see coming and gets dodged and fire grab should be renamed to misfire grab its hits so infrequently.
With 2570 armour I got hit by an 8.5k Rush the other day, it would be really nice to see RTL capable of pushing out some proper damage aswell.
That is seriously all you have to do arena-net. Everything else for the ele is balanced.
I think most eles that have used all weapon sets and tried a million different builds would beg to differ..
They need to do much more than change RTL that’s for sure.
Would be good to nerf FGS mobility as izzy said to get rtl back.
Let 1 weponset keep his mobility since has heaviest drawbacks (range/no antiprojectiles).
And remove the one that is giving supposed slow weaponsets, a better mobility than intended.
As said RTL is impactig FUN so its needed.
Also please buff autoattacks and lower a little churning CD while applying bleed on channeling.

Move water 5 to focus, revert RTL.
Quest to make Focus the bunker weapon and /D the Damage / Roam weapon and not have /D do everything

As a D/D is purely melee, it`ll need heals even more then S/F.
Putting the same spell on both will make more sense.
