So im trying out new classes, and Ele seems pretty cool with light hammer and such, i have 80 warr and 80 thief, warr is kinda fun but i want to try something new, failing as warr in dungeon is okey since you have the hp pool to cover for it, failing as thief is a disaster, one hit and you are down. I cant seem to get thief right.

Now to my question, how is ele in dungeons and fractals.

Unless you master dodging, reflecting, absorbing, etc then it’s ruthless. An ele is all about avoiding the damage rather than soaking it. You pretty much can take just one hit, the second one will kill you for sure. And you only have just one condi clear spell aswell so you can’t afford to make mistakes. This is for standard high DPS full zerk glass cannon staff build btw. It will make you a better player overall tho.

Thief is much easier than ele. I have 4k hours on my ele, once I tried thief, it has been a cake walk for me in any dungeons and fractals. Things you really need to know when playing high risk-high reward classes:

• Position (flanking for thief, max melee for ele)
• Timing (evade, dodge, block, invuln, blind, stun, daze, immobilization)
• Rotation (pull off a killing rotation means stuffs die faster, less defensive mode for you)
• Cool down management (or initiative management for thief)

Also, do spend a good time to read over every skill and trait tooltips to know what they do and try to improvise your play style.

The answer to your question really depends on what build you go with. You can start off with the standard pvp spec (which is 0/0/2/6/6) with a decent amount of toughness, giving you MAX defense but poor offense. As you get better at surviving with this, you can switch to something more offensive (like 6/0/0/2/6 or 0/6/0/2/6) which is a pretty decent balance. When you are good with that you can try 6/6/0/0/2 or something with max-offense. If you start off with 6/6/0/0/2 you are gonna have a really tough time.

Also consider what it is you are doing in PvE.

I have no problems doing just about any game content on a 06044 spec with PVT armor and Zerker everything else. Generally speaking I avoid high end (30+) Fractals but otherwise works fine.

That won’t work however if you’re looking for ultra uber zerk zerk ZERK speed dungeon clear teams at that point you’re likely going to be best sticking to a Mesmer/Warrior/Guardian for easy mode.

It’s harder to survive on Ele than the other classes. But it can also be the most rewarding.
