I am tired arena net.

We were told “new builds otw” months ago now…

I’m tired expecting each patch and saying to myself (ye, i speak to myself, don’t hate) “this patch will be it, this patch will be the new viable builds being released”…….

Only to get slapped in the face with major nerfs and 1 or 2 very minor buffs with NO new builds being made available.

I am tired of waiting arena net…

Just put us out our misery you created.

(Yes, I know the patch hasn’t hit yet….but either way it isn’t looking too bright)

Sorry for this post, I just wanted to get this off my chest, I’m tired expecting buffs and getting nerfed instead, tired of other classes being the best class in the game, tired of lopsided balance and tired of looking at the class manifesto hoping for it to be true.

Is it so wrong that we want more and better builds?

You could say I’m tired .

(Btw, the rtl nerf didn’t bring this on….its just that I’m sick of being nerfed 50ft under while other classes get better balance (minus 2 maybe) than us, and always being told to WAIT AND SEE -slap) in my face)

Best class in-game? you mean Ele for pvp/wvw? Save for PvE of course, but that’s a flaw with pve mechanics.

I came here cuz i was about to level my D/D ele alt as my warrior alt is nearing 80…and i’ve grown accustomed to the Warrior crying in that forum….but 12 of the top 15 forums posts are now about SOTG and petitioning the changes the patch are going to bring

Eles do have many builds possible. The problem is that nothing beats the current D/D bunker hybrid ele. It has probably the best survivability in game and can be considered OP since a good one is impossible to kill.

Other builds however can in no way live up to those expectations. High dmg is only achieveable with spamming auto attack on lightning hammer or fiery gs and scepter/staff have too unrelieable dmg sources to be considered in PvP.

Possible doesn’t equal good. Which you would have read if you hadn’t stopped reading at the first sentence. He actually agrees with you that other builds aren’t viable.

Well that would mean you have been trolling the forums of a class you don’t play. For what reason again?

doesn’t mean i don’t fight the class in PvP and learn what they do…nor did i say what level my D/D alt was already?

Elementalist nerf was fair. Even after this nerf they will still be the top dog. Elementalist players just seem sad because they can’t fly all over the place with Ride the Lightning anymore, as much as they used to.

You completely missed his point. There’s like one Elementalist build with a few minor variations that’s strong, and aaaaaaall the rest kinda suck. That one build may be so strong, even after this patch’s nerfs, that the Ele can still rely on it to beat everyone else, but it’s still going to be the only way you can play an Ele and see good success, and that SUCKS. I don’t enjoy having to spec heavily into Water and Arcana and pack a bunch of Cantrips for my Ele to be somewhat playable. It’s just that every other build falls flat on its face. What about Arcane skills? Those are fun. Nope, can’t run them most of the time. What about Staff? Great in WvW zergs and World Events, bad pretty much everywhere else, and you still have to spec into Water and Arcana. What about a full DPS glass build? The trait lines aren’t really there to support it and regardless you won’t have enough defense to survive any sort of attack. The risk/reward paradigm is totally skewed towards risk.

That’s the problem: there’s one build for Eles that rocks and the devs are determined to take it away from us, which would be fine except they have their heads in the sand about buffing other specs. Nerfing the Cantrip Ele doesn’t make the Ele more likely to pick other specs because those other specs still suck. It just makes it feel better to play another profession.

This patch will actually not hurt us that much.

However there are VERY bad signs on the way Anet seems to work:
- Devs seem to pay more attention to GW2Guru than to official forums. Not to mention Euro forums, not to mention non english forums. Its dead there.

- The changes even if they don’t affect the gameplay that much are incredibly bad calculated. It doesnt aim the right target. Its an American air strike not a surgery work.

*RTL nerf again
Yay. The problem with RTL is that is that its the only mobility tool available to Elementalist. And its off hand dagger. If you want to be mobile = go offhand dagger.
The change (20sec CD with a target, 40 without) is actually a good idea. But it doesnt solve the main problem : Elems beeing pigeonholed into D/D

*Cleansing Water nerf
This is one a of the most stupid decision I’v seen in a while.
If you want to nerf Cantrip Condi removal spam, hit Soothing Disruption instead of kicking every Elem actually trying to play something different. The worse part is that this change actually hurts more Healing Rain and Dwaynax6 than D/D Bunkers.

General “D/D Bunkers are too strong” thema
Elems feel pigeonholed into D/D Bunker because :
- Staff and Scepter are nearly ineffective in sPvP because they are slow and very avoidable.
- There is no synergy in Elem traits line besides aura+signets and cantrip+cleansing
- The best DPS line is Water because Bountiful Boons is too good (and other master traits too bad).
- You *have to spend points into arcana, not only because of boon duration and water#25, but because it would be giving up all what Elems are designed for : attunement dance.

TD;NR suggestions:
- Swap RTL/Lightning Flash making the 1st a Cantrip and the other an air OH Dagger ability. Keep the 20sec/40sec nerf planed.

- Don’t nerf Cleansing Water. Change regen for Aegis on Soothing Disruption.

- Improve Staff :
Haste Fireball travel time.
Water Blast a channeled water jet.
Increase substantially the duration of Healing Rain.
Increase substantially the damage, travel and animation time of chain lightning but make it single target.

- Nerf/Change Bountiful Boons so it gives heavy support instead of the best overall damage trait possible.

- Remove/Change Intelligence. Give to every trait line an innate reduced cooldown to go back to the related attunement depending on how much points you invested into the line. So attunement only traits doesn’t feel wasted.

Not only tired, but numbed out, emotionally drained, and just plain BURNED out.

I have two mains, one Ranger who has been waiting for “balance” against everyone EXCEPT eles (ridiculous) and a mesmer who is taken apart in two seconds in every single spvp match I manage to talk myself into, disappointingly again and again – at least my Ranger wins SOME fights, mesmer ZERO.

Burned out is what we are…

I believe that end game is the reason that many of us are about to jump into new MMOs or even back to our old ones even on part time basis since we are so tired of listening to the (seeming) lies that we are being fed month after long month while we wait interminably for the next patch that – mostly – will be seen by the majority of players as a wasted hope – again.

We are tired.

But we are also burned out waiting for the truth – and that truth is that Arenanet doesn’t care about end game…WvW and PvP are suffering and individual profs are dying for major retooling – how long do we wait and when will the truth be told from the beginning so we can stop being burned out?

Fix the characters.

Then fix the rest.

Hey, as an engi I have HGH, TANKCAT, and Static Discharge.

Not great, but it’s better than dagger/dagger or scepter/dagger bunker/semi-bunker and scepter/dagger arcane burst, the latter of which was hit pretty hard by the new changes.

Hey, as an engi I have HGH, TANKCAT, and Static Discharge.

Which are all weaker than D/D ele by far.
But they are at least completely different builds, which are pretty much even in power/viability PvP wise.
The main problem, ele has right now is that D/D cantrip bunker is too strong.
But I’m probably done with this game anyway. Might take my ranger for a spin from time to time and get 100% map completion and that’s about it.
Gonna play all the elder scrolls games from Skyrim downwards and hopefully be done with daggerfall(I don’t think, I will make it all the way to Arena) by the time, ESO comes out

If Tomorrow patch will even slightly nerf D/D PVE <==== i am out.

I was tired long ago when they started to balance things about a game mode where rolling in a 2square meters area is what matters….

I was even more when last week i started to wait long queues on gw2lfg because i don t want to roll guardian or warrior.

They want to balance around PvP?
Fine! Lets see if pvp players can alone pay the game.

I’ve played a staff Elementalist for almost 1000 hours since release. I just really can’t stand this much longer. They really need to give us a freaking buff.
