I finally figured out why we get no love !
Great theory. Let’s solve the problem by nerfing Wooden Potatoes.
/facepalm
just a theory ,,whatya think?
I think you are either trolling or full of kittehs.
Haiku FTW
Nah doubt it is this. If that would be it then it is more about potential of ele than “pro” players. If you make ele to survivable while still being to grab damage gear and traits then it becomes faceroll easy instagib it would be a warrior but worse.
Why they have to find a balance. I mean if you go out and run around in ful zerker the numbers will make you giggle no matter what weapon you are running. The one thing you will say to yourself is “My hp is to low” and/or “I’m so squishy I die to fast”. What you wont say is “I don’t have enough damage”.
Ele’s weak natural defenses is what balances it out for it’s damage potential. They can balance this if they give more survivability options that can allow eles to leave water and arcana with anything other than staff. You would just end up with a different type of ele which is ok it would do good damage, kind of weak to condis, but be survivable. They need to find a way to allow this type of Ele to develop and still keep the tried and true builds we have in place.

The team is better built For the ele. Aura share is awesome for team play. It just requires team domination which is harder to do with the group split up
Bad Elementalist
I’d love to see them do good in competitive tpvp.

I know I easily out play any ArenaNet employee with my Elementalist XD
Balance is a delicate thing. Especially in a game as complicated as a modern MMO. Even more so with a “jack of all trades” kind of profession. At present, I think that ANet has succeeded admirably with setting up the ele to be decent at everything out of the box. Not great at any one particular thing (unless specifically built/geared/played for it — and even then at the expense of nearly every other aspect of gameplay).
Here is a great video about “Balancing for Skill” by the Extra Credits folks:

After viewing this, I have a much better appreciation for just how difficult and counter-intuitive balancing a game can be.

other than sentimental value, why would anyone bring a “jack of all trades, pretty good at everything” to do anything, ever!? when i roll elem i want it to be the “right tool for the job” Dragon slaying, Mists defending.. jack of all trades, master of …umm, Elemental Sorcery last time i checked
love elem or they will burn your arena down

To do whatever is needed.
If you are running with a pre-made, min-maxed group you have the luxury of being able to specialize. When you are not, you don’t (well you could but it would probably end up with a lot of frustration involved).
For example, I pug dungeons a lot. Usually with an ele because I like knowing that whatever group I join all I need to do is swap utilities, traits and/or weapons to fill whatever role we may be missing.
