As the title says. I just met an ele, I don’t know what kind of steroid he was on, but he handed my kitten to me.

He bursted me down, mainly lightning strike from my combat log, took almost no damage from me, and regenerated his lost health with a surprisingly high speed.

So I wonder if anybody could tell me what he did, because I never experienced that with another class or another ele. I know my gear is a mess, but the speed he killed me with + my inability to really do any damage him was a surprise.

most likely dagger dagger glass cannon build or sceptre dagger glass cannon..

if it looked like a firey rush it was probably dagger dagger, ele’s can seriously put down some pain in very short amount of time if everything is on cooldown, and theres a chance he was sacrificing survivablility in order to make a raw dmg build, which personally i dont belive is worthwhile, that being said a dagger dagger ele using soldiers gear (power/tough/vit) and just abit of buffing of crit chance with perma fury and sigil of minor accuracy can have some pretty formidable stats, though it sounds like if he was using lighning strike he would be using that as a weapon sigil, and probably got some good crits with it, lightning strike is also a spectre skill.

personally on ele, the only vs i struggle with is shortbow ranger, simply because of the dmg output kiting and traps. if i see a good one shortbow ranger.. i pretty much leave him to the rest of the party or take him on where i have a terrain advantage. if you wanna fight a high dmg ele,

Short answer

your best methods are to stay at his back or out of his range, try to surprise them maybe.. (normally wont work if they use cantrips) try to keep moving but keep in their face if your a melee class.

Long answer

go and play an elementalist similar to what you saw, look at how the combos work and how they tie together learn the patterns and basically know how to predict whats likely to be coming a well timed dodge can save you a good 5k dmg from a ele.

Well if you do not react to the Updraft combo and he hits every spell and you get hurt hard. When an ele switches to water they have many heals, scepter 3, dagger 5 and utility heal in water attunement.

Was it in WvW? Are you a guardian?

Are you on the Yak Bend or Crystal Desert server? Just curious.

Personally, as an elementalist, the only class I struggle with in WvW is burst built Thief. Permanent stealth while instantly hitting you for over 10k health is ridiculous. I will be looking forward to that nerf. Let’s not make this thread about that though.

Other than that, all classes are pretty much fair game.

How can you struggle against rangers? They’re free kills…….unless you’re dueling with staff in glass cannon gear…..

That wasn’t an Elementalist you fought, it was a Necromancer who mastered Death Shroud! :P

He probably got some lucky procs from sigil of superior air (http://www.gw2db.com/items/28032-sigil-s-of-superior-air) and used signet of restoration (http://www.gw2db.com/skills/1119-signet-of-restoration) and water skills from scepter and/or dagger to heal.

I pwn many noobs in WvW with my glass canon build.

I pwn even faster if i get lucky with fury

It’s probably a Scepter/Dagger Ele, I play D/D and I can’t burst down people that fast, I did however run into an S/D Ele and he handed my kitten to me like there was no tomorrow, at least 4 times in one fight. Did not have any chance to react.

Pretty hard to play from my experience, but I’ve been playing D/D mainly, so it might be my inexperience with the setup..
