Well i cant talk about warrior , dont have one.
But like i said , only thing my ele can do , my guard cant is AoE WvW like crazy , fact is my guard can only do that while his tome lasts.
Other than that , noway my guard would go down before my ele would.
Still i agree ele is viable , but really , it is not more rewarding, when it comes to power , when you win 2×1 or 3×1 , do think people on other classes also do the same. Considering the skills of your opponents is important.
So like others here said , ele is a class that can do the job , but to compensate for being harder to play , all you get is the fun of using the class. Therefore it is a class for those that really love its gameplay.
That’s kind of the point of playing the game isn’t it? Because you enjoy the class? If you don’t enjoy it why are you playing it?

Guardians have like nothing for ranged combat. Guardians can’t escape as well as D/D elementalist. Guardians don’t have as good group heals as elementalist. Guardians don’t have knockdowns (except the pet, which no one uses). Guardians don’t really good a good form of swiftness. They have it, but it’s not that great.
If you go into the middle of 15 people with a guardian, you’re going to get owned. Elementalist can live just fine provided you have some cooldowns up. There are plenty of things an ele can do that most other classes cannot.
Aoe is a big deal in WvW. How is that not a huge difference? I’m baffled.
Anyways, I’m probably done responding to posts like that. People will continue to moan regardless. Some small buffs aren’t going to change that. It’s because of the way the core class is designed. Cheers.
Yes elementalist got a lot of tricks to stay alive to balance out the low health pool low armor… skills and traits are there but many players refused to use them! Defensive traits are far more important than the power and precision stat imo. If traited with earth / water, gear up with more power and precision then… If going for fire / air trait, then gear up with some toughness and vitality.
Elementalist is not a “hard mode”, instead, she is a different mode compare to traditional MMO.

If i can pick any skill set up and have all my cds reset let me break the news to you, my guard can also go in the mid of 15, granted it is something that depends on the situation for both classes to be worthy it.
While what you said is true , while it does exaggerate for the elementalist side. You should also consider one thing you forgot there … Guardians got advantages of their own over the eles…
Quick example is the mass damage mitigation guards offer to their parties , that is something eles can try but guards are FAR superior, and is something that if used right , surpasses the ele ability to heal.
So take into account that , sure eles got the edge on somethings , but guards got the edge on others and in the end guards are much easier to play than eles are.
Still ultimately i agree with you , the objective of the game is to have fun, if people have more fun being hard workers that is nice and it is nice they have a class for them.
PS: sorry but i really lack the patience to make a full list of what each class the upper hand on to compare.
If you can pick any skill set for your guardian to go into the middle of 15 people that doesn’t work. Because I can do it with my “regular” pvp set. I don’t need a special set to do it.
I’m not saying guardians don’t have any advantages, but I disagree with saying the -only- advantage elementalists have over guardians is aoe. Even if that were true, aoe is still a huge advantage heh.

you shouldnt have to spec 100% like you just to live more than 1 hit AND enjoy the class.

I just came back to the game after 3 weeks off because of Superstorm sandy, I cant fathom i was missing this game so much. I figured we would have SOME changes towards more balance but what I actually see has happened since i have been gone is the game has become MORE homogonized. where as i used to see mostly thieves and mezmers with some other clases sprinkeled in I now see almost NO guardians no eles and pretty much all thieves. its like all the rangers and mezmers rerolled shortbow defensive thieves to troll with caltrops and bleed while all the normal thieves and warriors are now just straight dagger dagger backstab har har I 1 shot you dood builds.
I played 5 hours yesterday and thats what everything turned into.
how can you try to be an E sport and have one class so CLEARLY better than the others and 2 classes so CLEARLY on the bottom?
In almost every game, people tend to go for what ever can kill another fastest, regardless of own survivability. It’s instant gratification. You cannot blame GW2 for what the masses prefer to do.
And balancing classes is something that happens over time. It’s not something that can be done overnight. Never underestimate the playerbase’s ability to break things. If it is breakable, it’ll be broke. If it isn’t, it’ll still be broke. As time passes, the classes will become more balanced. In the meantime, there will be highs and lows for each class. Either re-roll for the moment or wait it out.
Not just balance between profession, but balance within professions.

I wouldn’t say they die in 3 hits, cause in wvw a thief attempted to kill me 3 times and failed. Then again, I roll with scepter and focus which is why I broke down my staff for the ectos. I mean elemenatlist got lots of shields!!! You shouldn’t be dying unless your outnumbered.
Defensive skills:
Scepter—>
Rock Barrier: each rock gives 50 toughness=250 in total
Blind Flash: blinds
Focus—> (my bread and butter)
Fire shield: Don’t underestimate
Freezing gust: Chills (perfect chaser helper)
comet: Dazes and a blast finisher
Swirling winds: No projectiles!
Gale: Knockdown (a.k.a Get that weak mess outta here)
MAGNETIC WAVE: Removes 3 conditions, reflects projectiles, blast finisher, and cripples even though the skill doesn’t state that it does -.- (I LOVE this skill)
OBSIDIAN FLESH: Invulnerable for 4 seconds (I get cursed at for using this in wvw)
