IDEA FOR CHURNING EARTH!!!!
I think it would be super OP, but it sounds really neat.

We already have some decent utlities. In pvp you can use elemental surge and keep them immobalized there, you can switch to air while churning and do an air aura and you can use the air signet to blind opponents near you. A pull would make the move too good.

If you controlled the pull, that would be even more OP. Here’s what It might look like.
You start channeling, halfway thru you use Lightning Flash and teleport to your target, then before they can dodge or get away, you use the pull and boom, they’re done.

Usually, elementalists who use Churning Earth, use Earthquake to knockdown foes and/or chill with Frozen burst, cripple them with Ring of Earth, Immobilize them with Magnetic graspso it is hard to escape the huge AoE.
Churning Earth is fine.

that may be true, you can use frozen burst, ring of earth, magnetic grasp then churning earth, but by the time immobilize wears off, they can still dodgeroll even if theyre chilled.
I can see one of few ways of landing Churning Earth is using signet of earth for that 3 sec immobilize. But other than that, it’s kinda hard now to land it using earthquake. Maybe that’d work if Magnetic Grasp was made into an insta-cast
If churning earth landed reliably, it’d be incredibly overpowered. It’s one of the few elementalist skills that you really have to think about using.

I think churning earth is in need of a tune up. I think its cast time should either vary by a skill/points in earth or just be shorter.
I said it was a neat suggestion, I didn’t say it should be implemented. It would be incredibly OP.
Churning earth isn’t fine as is for all of you who keep saying it is.
Considering a fight vs another skilled player, they know it’s cast time as they have learned over time. Therefore dodging it is as simple as not being an idiot. Fighting good people, they’ll actually stand there and attack you while it channels, then dodge right before it lands. (That’s my tactic and it’s too funny). Broken though.

I am not sure if adding a pull would be too OP, but churning earth is definitely NOT OK.
Too many people are say elementalist has very high skill damage, so OP, blah blah blah. But they totally ignore the fact that too many skills of Ele is so unreliable, namely churning earth, ice spike, erruption, dragon tooth.
I played every classes, none of their skills are like Ele which have ridiculously long preparation time. And some of the class has skills that is similarily powerful but MUCH easier to hit. For example, arcing shot of warrior (non-cri can deals 2500), those marks of necros, grenades of engis, etc.
Meanwhile, all Eles hard hitting skills is hard to hit, most of the other skills that have higher chances to hit, does kitten damages.
Not just churning earth, the way many skills of Ele behaves is just not right

You should be able to charge and hold churning earth for later use.

Armor of Earth and Lightning Flash being up are kind of the only times when we can actually finish a churning on anyone (while solo).
yeah, it’s a fantastic skill dont get me wrong, but it just needs to have something implemented to make it more viable, aside from the insta blast finisher that starts when you start channeling it

None of which last long enough to keep your foe in place for the skill to finish. It’s already got a huge telegraph; it doesn’t need to channel for 3 seconds.

The only thing I really dislike about churning earth atm is it’s stupid channeled effect. It’s practically useless since it’s only a 1sec cripple, but still makes the skill go on full cd if interrupted. That and it aggros in pve.

That’s a problem with CC being too strong in this game. Churning Earth is still inherently flawed and extremely inefficient.
I’d like to be able to hit the button again to use it before it’s fully charged for a weakened effect. IIRC that’s how a lot of channeled skills were originally going to be designed.
I use it in a zerg fight (in wvw) and it’s fine as it is. However if we’re talking about spvp… it’s kinda hard to land, unless you’re team is set up to actually combo follow churning earth…
