Just an idea for a weapon we may be getting. This is not based on any facts, just something I think could be implemented. It could work for sword or mace if you tweak a few words (change blade to club and sword to mace). Thought you guys would enjoy some more ideas
Sword:
Fire:
1.
A. Fire lash: Lash out with your sword aided by the power of fire. Range: 450 Cast time: .1 second Enemies hit: 5
B. Burning edge: Bring your enhanced sword backdown on your foes. Range: 450 Cast time: .1 second. Enemies hit: 5
C. Impact: Deliver a powerful uppercut with your sword, causing an explosion on impact and blinding nearby enemies. Range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Enemies hit: 5

2.
A. Fire Leash: extend a tendril of fire out towards your foe, teathering them with fire and burning them every second they are teathered. Range: 900 Cast time: .5 seconds. Enemies hit:1. Teather duration: 3 seconds
B. Retrieval: Retireve your flaming leash. Range: 900. Cast time: .5 seconds. Knockdown duration: 1 second

3. Backdraft:
Stab your sword into the ground causing a backdraft that deals heavy damage and locks back your foes.
Damage: 1900. Radius: 240. Cast time: .5 seconds. Knockback range: 100. Knockdown duration: 1.5 seconds

Water:
1. A. Current: slice your blade across your foes driven by the current of the ocean.
Range: 450. Cast time: .1 second. Enemies hit: 3
B. Crash: bring your sword down on your foes with the power of a crashing wave: range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Enemies hit: 3

2. Whirlpool: summon a whirl pool to protect around you, giving out AoE healing and damage.
Radius: 180. Cast time: .2 seconds. Duration: 5 seconds. Healing: 700 health per pulse. Damage: 750 per pulse. 1 pulse per second. Foes hit: 5

3. Torrent: Rush forward in a surge of water, stunning your foe: Range: 900. Cast time: .4 seconds. Stun duration: 1 second

Earth:
1. A. Obsidian Wrath: slice your fle with the extended reach of Obsidian: Range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Does hit: 5
B. Obsidian Revenge: Follow up with a second, more powerful strike that crippled your for: Range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Foes hit: 5
C. Obsidian Destruction: finish your foe with a massive strike that nothing survives:
Range: 500 Cast time: .4 seconds. Foes hit: 1. Damage: 1500

2. Earthen Tendrils: Plunge your sword into the earth, summoning tendrils all around you that immobilize foes: Radius: 260. Cast time: .5 seconds. Immobilize duration: 4.5 seconds. Tendril duration: 5 seconds. Pulse: Every 2.5 seconds. Damage per pulse: 1000

3. Surge: Surge forward with the pulse of an Earthquake, knocking down all foes in your path. Range: 600. Cast time: .3 seconds. Knockdown duration: 2 seconds

Air:
1. A. Aerial strike: Strike as fast as wind, damaging your foes: Range: 450. Cast time: instant. Enemies hit: 5
B. Brilliant slash: slash your foe with a strike so fast it cuts straight through even the strongest materials. Range: 450. Cast time: .1 seconds. Enemies hit: 5. Damage: 1000
C. Electric release: Stab at your foe, electrifying the air around your sword: Range: 450. Cast time: .2 seconds. Damage: 600. Stun duration: .5 seconds

2. Thunderbolt: Summon a thunderbolt to conduct through your sword and into the earth, damaging all foes around you: Radius: 260. Cast time: .5 seconds. Damage: 1200

3. Electric reaction:launch an arc of lightning at your foe which spread to all of the surrounding foes, dazing them all. If there are no surrounding foes, the foe is electrocuted with high voltage and stunned. Range: 900. Daze duration: .5 seconds. Stun duration: 3.5 seconds. Cast time: .5 seconds. Damage when arced: 700. Damage with no arc: 1500

Just something that I would enjoy on my ele Any thoughts or comments? What do you guys think about getting a sword/mace and what should it do?

I like the concept but as proposed the weapon would be very op especially if they proceed with the stability changes. Having access to 6 hard ccs and 1 soft cc is too much; not including cc from the off hand.. Keep the fire with burning only, switch the water to either chill or vul, lower the immob in earth and switch the knockdown to a cripple or bleed stack, and for air take out one of the stuns and switch it for vul. Timing to stun on air should be lowered as well.

Considering they aren’t adding new weapons, and that its unlikely they give us one of our conjures. The only weapon options for ele are: Sword, Mace, Rifle, Longbow, Pistol, shield and Warhorn. I can only see them using sword, pistol or rifle. But under the assumption they make us specialize with swords (my favorite of the three), I hope its a real melee weapon.

Heres how I see the skills:

Fire

1-Strike you enemy with a flaming sword, warming your foes. 1/2 Removes chilled on enemies
-Slash your enemy with a burning sword, making them vulnerable. 3/4 3 vulnerability for 2 seconds.
-Pierce your foes with your flaming sword igniting them 3/4 2 seconds of burning.

2-Stab the ground erupting underwater steam vents, blinding nearby foes. 1/4 8 second cooldown

3-Rapidly ignite your sword, launching you forward to your foe (900 yard leap) instant 15 second cooldown.

Water

1-Strike your foes with a cold sword, chilling them. 1/2 1 second chill
-Stab your foes with your frost sword, 3/4 1 second cripple
-Freeze your enemy with your sword chilling them. 3/4 2 second chill

2-encase nearby enemies in a block of ice for 2 seconds (240 radius) 10 second cooldown

3-Through a series of rapid strikes through the air, create a blizzard which chills, blocks projectiles and causes vulerability. (PBaoe 5 second duration) 1 1/2 cast 30 second cooldown

Air

1-Strike your foes with a blade enhanced with wind, extending the duration of burning by 1 second. 1/2
-Stab your foe 1 second
-Rapidly cut your foe bleeding them and crippling them. 2 bleeds 4 seconds, 2 second cripple 1/4

2-Knock nearby foes back with a gust of wind 130 radius. 300 knockback
-Pull foes in with a powerful suction 600 radius. 1/2 20 second cooldown

3- Slash through the air, creating wind currents underneath your foe, preventing movement. 3 second immobilize (hopefully it could have a different animation) 1/4 20 second cooldown

Earth

1-Pummel your foe with your sword, weakening them. 2 second weakness 1/4
-Slash your foe, bleeding them 2 seconds. 1/2
-Pierce your foe with your sword bleeding them heavily (3 stacks for 5 seconds) 3/4

2-Encase your enemy in a block of rocks, if your enemy is on fire, the rocks explode outwards crippling and dazing nearby foes. 2 second stun, 1 second daze 360 radius explosion. 900 yards. 15 second cooldown

3-Encase yourself in rocks, sheltering you from harm, after 3 seconds the rocks explode for bleeding nearby foes. 360 radius. 30 second cooldown.

Essentially most moves are 130 range with exceptions, most also target 3 players, but some are single target and some are aoe 5 target.

Regardless, Anet has probably mostly finished with the elementalist specilization, so this is more for us to have fun. I hope my formatting wasn’t too terrible.

Are you kidding? Sword will never have higher range than Scepter, it doesn’t make sense, thus it will never happen.

The things with High range, are usually 2-handed weapons aka staff, bows, greatswords .
Scepter is considered the second highest range weapon on a elementalist, with 900 range, being a medium range magic tool.
Its a friggin Wand, if you may.

If you look at the daggers, you will see they are a short range weapon with range from 300 to 400, while not melee, for a magical class, that is considered short.

Then you look at the sword, its not a ranged weapon, its melee, but on a magic class it would need a bit of range impleneted, it being a sword, its not as close and personal of a weapon as the dagger, so what is the only logical conclusion?
Yeah, if a sword were to be wielded by the elementalist, it would have the range higher than a dagger and lower than a scepter, which would be around 500~600 mostly.

I highly doubt that even if elementalist gets a high ranged weapon, like a greatsword, that it will have ranger higher than the Staff, which is 1200.
