So here we are again. We tried to have this thread before once. It went ok and we had a dev reply. That was cool. But as the meta has changed I thought we’d have another go.

With that said, as per the title, we all give one suggestion to improve the ele while keeping it balanced. Emphasis on ONE. Not “WELL THERES SO MUCH WRONG WE CANT PICK JUST ONE!”. One. That said, i’m also gonna put a list of silly or beaten to death ideas below. It may limit discussion ,so eh, but last time we had the same three things said >34194991 times.

TL;DR We give ONLY ONE idea to improve the ele while maintaining balance with the exception of these things.
[Weapon swap: Its a bad idea and will never happen
Redo Traits: Known by everyone and need not be said.
Better Elites: Same as above. Ideas for elites however might be cool.
“I wan glass cannon ele”: Also unlikely.] Offering damage buffs to specific skills may be cool however, but if its said too much please refrain from repeating it.
Same goes for everything actually. If someone has an idea you like feel free to say so.

Anyways, I’ll start. Lower casting times in general. Staff ele relies on combos for dmg output and this would make it easier to chain moves. It would also make moves more likely to hit(I’m looking at you shockwave) Or make it matter less if they miss(eruption,ice spike,lightning surge)

The casting time is indeed important. Lowering the casting time of Flame Strike (and incrising the burn time a bit or the burst damage) and Stone Shards, and lowering the time for Dragon’s Tooth to hit is important in the scepter area I have noticed. The wait for it to land is rather high IMHO. And they are auto attacks (not Dragon’s Tooth obviously), which feels wrong for a scepter skill.

The skills in the staff selection doesn’t do much damage, compared to the time it takes to cast and compared to scepter. Either loweing the casting time or increasing the damage would help in that aspect. The spells are primarily burst and should have more of an effect when hitting opponents. The skill Stoning is especially slow to cast, while the projectile takes forever to hit the target, if at all. Water Blast is also lacking. While it has splash heal, the damage part is somewhat lackluster compared to dagger and scepter water skills. It heals allies very close by the enemy, but not by much. The damage is generally low compared to a scepter build, which has decent range.

While I find it fine that they want to focus on dagger mainhand, there are a few things with scepter, and quite a few things with staff that needs attendance.

Increase projectile speed for staff autoattacks.

Something’s wrong when an enemy can avoid my basic attacks by casually strafing sideways.

Staff Air => improve it so its our true single-target DPS attunement.

Whilst the other attunements in Staff could use some tweaks, I could live with them not changing much if Air was improved.

I really want them to fix the current bugs. Half of the traits don’t seem to work, and if anything is close you can’t hit them with staff lightning auto attacks.

Increase underwater skill damage by 200%, all of them. Underwater fighting is ATROCIOUS.
