I’ve been on a break from guild wars for quite a while (nearly 8 months)

Last summer i ran a full zerker s/d ele when fresh air came out (huuuge buff for my play style, esp with that initual bug, hot kitten )

and boy was i almost useless in wvw. it was almost impossible to solo roam. i dropped like a fly and had to work soooo hard to match dps of other classes. (might stacking like a crazy person) the condi cleanses of having a 10pts (2 pt now?) in water was somewhat survivable but you have to been on top of your stance and cool downs or you are done. and dont get me started on our escape…

but comimg back this summer, running the same build essentially, i am sooooo much stronger and somehow more survivable!! i am loving it, i tell you. i feel like i can stand my ground without an escort.

is ele back? are we viable at last???

still seems like 6 pts in arcane is a prereq which is unforuneate for build diversity, but im glad to see ele is a force to be wary of at last. and our escape might not be great, but im happy to be usefull.

I really appreciate this response. I’m delighted to hear that people kept believing in ele (esp when a lot of people thought ele was “bad.”) I have to admit, I was sucked into the negativity last time I seriously played and maybe my return has really just refreshed my view on the profession. All in all, I’m glad to be back with my ele

Must be talking about WvWvW, because in sPvP it’s a more rough life.

Fresh air Ele didn’t necessarily get better, rather, many other over the top specs were nerfed. Warrior hammer damage and healing sig took a hit, dumbfire necro is dead, and CnD thief was hit the hardest of any other spec by ferocity. D/D ele on the other hand has always been WvW meta, and has been reintroduced to SPvP with the new celestial amulet which suits the class very well, and the reverted nerf to cleansing water which basically makes it so that ele has the 2nd best condi cleanse in game. Oh and strength runes are a little OP but I don’t really care. I don’t even run strength on half my classes anymore. IMO only classes that should be running strength runes are ele and warrior.

Ele has never been bad in WVW IMO. D/D is doable now in WVW but staff is still better (IMO).

The new traits have failed to really mix things up at all, and glyphs, signets, and conjures still suck as hard as they always have.

2012 is back (minus the rtl) but better. Yes eles are more than just viable now, but top tier. D/d celestial in general is stupid powerful due to strength runes, changes to celestial stats and with the previous minor buffs over the months leading to the last change where they unnerfed water sustain and buffed bs it was just a matter of time.
Sadly it’s a bit over the top (not just with eles) and for balance reasons there will definitely be a nerf to strength runes to tone down the excessive bunker/power meta.

Hahaha well it looks like you were correct about the strength runes!

People saying ele was bad,were people that never understood attunements or could use em.
D/D always,even after all those nerfs could go against 99% of builds out there and win.
That in the hands of a good player.

Strength got nerfed btw

Some things were changed. Mostly other classes got nerfed however, the Heal buff + Strength Runes + Fire + Air sigils with Fresh air trait make S/D or S/F extremely powerful even though it’s based on RnG. I was dueling an Ele earlier, I think it may have been Intigo, and he switched to air and hit me with one auto attack and I then took 4 k damage from air + fire sigils.

Folks see DnD eles tear stuff up and dont realise that its massively hard to master. So they left or made their ele into a zerg staff ele.

Yeah, those escapes man, I’m so tired of conjuring my FGS and laughing while outrunning everyone.

They got shaved a tad, no way near a nerf. They still are still very good and the go to rune in pvp besides pirate.
